Are you passionate about advancing the structural engineering profession and collaborating with industry leaders to deliver impactful programs, resources, and professional development opportunities? The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is seeking an organized, motivated, and collaborative Manager, Technical Programs to support the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) and help drive initiatives that benefit members and the broader engineering community.

What You’ll Do

As Manager, Technical Programs, you’ll play a key role in supporting SEI’s technical committees, volunteer leaders, and professional development initiatives. You’ll:

  • Manage and support assigned committees, task groups, and volunteer leaders
  • Coordinate and execute committee-driven programs, projects, and technical initiatives
  • Lead the planning and delivery of webinars, workshops, short courses, and other educational programs
  • Support the development of technical reports, publications, guidance documents, presentations, and professional resources
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, and committee activities to ensure successful outcomes
  • Collaborate across ASCE departments to support member engagement and technical programming
  • Manage volunteer communications, onboarding efforts, and committee logistics
  • Contribute to special projects that advance the structural engineering profession and member value
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in project coordination, committee support, volunteer engagement, association management, higher education, nonprofit organizations, or related fields
  • Strong organizational, project management, and customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with volunteers, committees, professional societies, or member-service organizations preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Interest in technical programs, professional development, association management, and the engineering profession
Location: Hybrid (Reston, VA)

This position has hybrid work from home flexibility in the Northern VA/DC Metro area and requires support for in-person meetings, events, and activities at ASCE Headquarters.
