Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Lafayette, Indiana is seeking a Warehouse Team Lead to guide daily operations in a fast-paced facility. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency and team leadership with a shift from 4:30 pm to 1:00 am on the second shift.

You will supervise receiving, picking, packing, shipping, forklift operation and cycle counting, while promoting continuous improvement and proper use of RF scanners and MS Office tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with powered industrial trucks preferred.
• 1+ year leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
• Prior warehouse experience preferred.
• RF scanner knowledge/experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and ensure continuous improvement for warehouse operations.
• Perform warehouse tasks: loading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift operation, and cycle counting.
• Allocate resources and organize daily work to optimize shift performance.
• Inspire team members to improve KPIs using appropriate leadership styles.
• Provide orientation and ensure employees have tools to perform their jobs.
• Promote health and safety practices within the warehouse.
• Handle day-to-day paperwork (picking sheets, returns, bills of lading).
• Submit daily reports and propose action plans to enhance operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Hourly Pay $19.75 per hour
• Overtime Pay $29.62 per hour
• Additional Pay: $0.50 per hour when assigned to second shift
• Schedule: Second Shift Monday - Friday, 4:30 pm - 1:00 am

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One (1) year or more powered industrial truck experience preferred
• One (1) year or more previous experience as Team Lead preferred
• One (1) year or more Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) preferred
• One (1) year or more previous warehouse experience preferred
• Knowledge and/or experience with an RF scanner advanced required
• Valid forklift operator's license certified
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Effective leadership skills
• Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Performs work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Lead and ensure continuous improvement efforts for optimal efficiency of the operations.
• Perform warehouse function, which may include loading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift operation, and, cycle counting.
• Allocate resources and organize and distribute daily work duties to members to ensure optimal shift/team operational logistics.
• Inspire and guide team members towards improved Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) using the appropriate leadership styles and methods.
• Assist in proving appropriate orientation for employees and give them the necessary information, technology and tools to perform their jobs.
• Assist with promoting health and safety working methods within the warehouse.
• Deal with day to day paperwork in a warehouse environment (i.e. picking sheets, returns, bills of lading, etc.).
• Complete and submit daily reports and propose action plans to enhance operations effectiveness and service levels.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
