Job summary

Weber Blackstone seeks a Sourcing Manager for Raw Materials, Metals and Fabrications based in Palatine, IL. The role leads sourcing strategy, supplier management, and procurement for critical commodities, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and margin while supporting new product development from concept to launch.

Primary location is Palatine, IL with procurement support for the Huntsley, IL plant and possible other global sites. Reports to the Director of Sourcing - NA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 6–10 years in Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, or related roles in consumer products manufacturing.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher is a plus.
• Project management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing and category strategies for raw materials, metals, and fabricated components to optimize safety, quality, delivery, and margin.
• Lead supplier identification, qualification, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and awards based on technical capabilities and cost.
• Establish and monitor supplier KPIs and scorecards for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and continuous improvement.
• Lead commercial negotiations for materials and fabricated components, including pricing, terms, and capacity.
• Monitor metals markets and translate insights into actionable sourcing strategies.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Planning, Quality, Finance, and Product Development to support new product launches.
• Engage suppliers early in NPD to ensure material availability and risk mitigation.

Role Overview

Summary:

Weber Blackstone is seeking a Sourcing Manager for Raw Materials, Metals and Fabrications is responsible for leading the sourcing, supplier management, and procurement strategy for assigned commodities, driving cost-effective solutions and supply continuity. Develop and execute sourcing strategies that optimize Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Margin. This role leads supplier identification, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and ongoing relationship management, and driving supplier performance against key KPIs.

The Sourcing Manager partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supply Planning, Quality, and Finance to support new product development from concept through launch, ensuring the right suppliers, materials, capacity, commercial agreements, and risk mitigation plans are in place.

The position is based in Palatine, IL and primarily supports procurement into Weber Blackstone's factory in Huntley, IL, and may also support procurement at other manufacturing locations globally. The Sourcing Manager will own strategy multiple levels deep within the supply chain, including fabricators, their service centers, and upstream mills. The position reports to the Director of Sourcing - North America.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing and category strategies for raw materials, metals, and fabricated components, optimizing decisions across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Margin.
• Develop sourcing strategies across multiple tiers of the supply chain, including fabricators, material distributors/service centers, processors, and mills, to optimize the total value chain.
• Lead supplier identification, qualification, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and business award processes based on technical capabilities, quality, capacity, cost competitiveness, delivery performance, and strategic fit.
• Establish, monitor, and manage supplier performance through clearly defined KPIs and scorecards, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, service, productivity, and continuous improvement.
• Lead commercial negotiations for raw materials and fabricated components, including pricing, commodity indices, conversion costs, freight, payment terms, productivity, capacity commitments, and other key commercial terms.
• Monitor metals markets, commodity indices, supply-demand conditions, capacity, and other relevant market factors and translate these insights into actionable sourcing strategies.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Planning, Quality, Finance, and Product Development to support new product development from concept through successful production launch.
• Engage suppliers early in the new product development process to ensure material availability, manufacturability, tooling, capacity, quality, cost, lead time, and supply risk are considered in sourcing and design decisions.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 6-10 years' experience in Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or technical position in a consumer product, high volume, seasonal manufacturing environment
• People management experience a plus
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification a plus
• Project Management experience
