Manager, Solutions Architect (Customer Engineering)(Remote)

About the role

Capital One has taken a bold journey to build a technology company while operating in a complex, highly regulated business. We have built out a large engineering organization, moved to the cloud, re-architected our applications and data platforms, and embraced machine learning at scale.

Our AI/ML capabilities are now at the forefront of what's possible in banking (e.g., Eno). We have open sourced several tools (e.g., Cloud Custodian, Hygieia) and partnered with digital leaders like MSFT.

We develop internal solutions across cloud, data, governance, and applications to serve businesses in the cloud or migrating to it. The Software team seeks experienced contributors who can engineer, deliver, and implement solutions, working directly with customers to ensure success.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver technical engagements with enterprise customers, including envisioning solutions, architectural design, and prototypes.
• Drive architecture and design reviews based on business and technical requirements.
• Analyze and document requirements for data, workflows, processes, hardware, OS, and system integrations.
• Plan, manage, and deliver customer projects.
• Support architecture governance with subject matter expertise.
• Collaborate with partners to identify and prioritize system needs.
• Travel as needed for implementation, relationship building, and stakeholder communication.
• Enforce policies on development, security, change management, and compliance.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 4 years in Software Engineering and Systems Architecture or Solution design
• At least 2 years creating solutions architectures in a public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in CS, Engineering, or IT
• 5+ years in software engineering
• 3+ years as a Solutions Architect in large/complex organizations
• Experience architecting scalable, decoupled systems in regulated environments
• Experience with infrastructure, databases, networking, CI/CD tools (K8s, Docker, ECS, etc.)
• Experience working with business clients
• AWS or equivalent certifications
