Funnel Leasing, Inc. is hiring a hands-on Manager, Software Engineering - Mobile Apps to lead our Living Operations team. The Resident App guides residents from onboarding through move-in and move-out, with a 60% hands-on coding focus and 40% people leadership.

You will mentor a team of 3–5 engineers, review code, drive technical decisions, and oversee releases to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This remote role can be based anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years professional software engineering experience, including mobile apps.
2+ years in engineering leadership roles.
Hands-on experience building iOS and Android apps with JavaScript, React, React Native, Expo.
Experience releasing to Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Experience integrating mobile apps with GraphQL APIs; backend with Python and Django.
Experience using Datadog for production monitoring.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day work on the Resident App and contribute to its building and improvement.
Set clear expectations, provide feedback, and mentor engineers.
Collaborate with Product and Design to define priorities and deliverables.
Oversee updates across partner-branded apps from planning to launch; inform teams of changes.
Ensure app reliability and accurate resident information; coordinate issue resolution.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors and coordinate timelines.

Funnel Leasing Inc., is hiring for a hands‑on hiring a hands‑on Manager, Software Engineering - Mobile Apps to lead our Living Operations team. The team builds and maintains Funnel’s Resident App, which guides residents through onboarding before move‑in, supports them throughout their lease, and helps them navigate move‑out. This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S.

You’ll spend approximately 60% of your time on hands‑on engineering and 40% on people leadership. You’ll write and review production code, guide technical decisions, and manage and mentor a team of 3 to 5 engineers. We’re looking for a manager who has built white‑label iOS and Android apps with React Native and Expo, integrated them with GraphQL APIs, and managed releases through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The salary range for this role is: $150,000 - $170,000.

Roles and responsibilities

Lead the team’s day‑to‑day work on the Resident App and contribute directly to building and improving it.
Set clear expectations for each engineer, provide regular feedback, and support their professional growth.
Work with Product and Design to understand what residents and partners need, set priorities, and agree on what the team can deliver.
Oversee updates across partner‑branded apps, from planning through launch. Keep partners and internal teams informed when plans or timelines change.
Take responsibility for the app’s reliability and the accuracy of the information residents see. When problems arise, coordinate the response and follow through until they’re resolved.
Manage relationships with third‑party vendors whose services are part of the resident experience. Agree on responsibilities and timelines, and escalate issues when needed.
Create a culture of continuous improvement and learning
Foster collaboration within team and across the company
Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion

Education, Work Experience, and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and maintaining mobile apps in production.
2+ years in an engineering leadership role, such as Engineering Manager or Tech Lead, with experience leading and mentoring a small team.
Hands‑on experience building iOS and Android apps with JavaScript, React, React Native, and Expo, including supporting multiple white‑label apps from a shared codebase.
Experience managing releases through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including code signing, submissions, app review, and rollouts.
Experience integrating mobile apps with GraphQL APIs and developing backend services with Python and Django.
Experience using Datadog to monitor production systems and troubleshoot issues across mobile apps, backend services, and third‑party integrations.
