Job summary

ElleVet Sciences is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive software development and the ecommerce experience for a rapidly growing pet-health brand. You will guide the team, set technical direction, and ensure the platform scales with demand.

You will collaborate across sales, marketing, and product to deliver a seamless customer journey, modern architecture, and reliable performance. A degree in CS/IT/SE is preferred, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in software engineering leadership.
• Experience with PHP and Symfony/Shopware.
• Familiar with ERP platforms like NetSuite.
• Strong communication and strategic planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on business goals, technical direction and long-term strategies.
• Lead, mentor, and grow the development team.
• Contribute to the development of the strategic ecommerce plan; combine expertise in sales, marketing, technology, and management to deliver a superior brand and shopping experience.
• Manage the overall user experience, including site navigation, content development with marketing, checkout funnel, and promotional campaigns.
• Monitor plan performance and drive changes to meet or exceed targets.
• Stay informed on industry trends to keep the tech stack modern and scalable.
• Manage third-party IT Help Desk relationships.
• Allocate budgets for software development and resources.
• Understand cybersecurity protocols and best practices.
• Make key architectural and technical decisions for product development.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on business goals, technical direction and long-term strategies.
• Lead, mentor, and grow the development team.

• Manage the overall user experience, including site navigation, content development in conjunction with the marketing team, checkout funnel, and promotional campaigns.
• Closely monitor plan performance and drive any necessary changes to meet or exceed targets.
• Be knowledgeable of and report on industry trends, ensuring the company’s technology stack is modern and scalable.
• Manage third-party IT Help Desk relationship.
• Manage budgets for software development teams and allocate resources appropriately to meet project and business needs.
• Understanding cybersecurity protocols and best practices.
• Make key architectural and technical decisions for product development.

What We Are Seeking

• Demonstrated experience in software engineering, including progressive leadership or management responsibilities.
• Experience with PHP development, Symfony (Shopware), and WordPress/WooCommerce is highly desirable.
• Experience with the following technologies and platforms is a plus: Cloudflare, Klaviyo integrations and/or Figma
• Working knowledge of NetSuite or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms.
• Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies, including cloud infrastructure and software architecture initiatives.
• Knowledge of budget management, project roadmaps, timelines, and resource allocation across multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, documentation, training, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and reports.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to align technology initiatives with broader business objectives.
• Self-motivated, decisive, and results-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and embraces innovation and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred.
