Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join our Internal Applications team. You will lead high-performing engineers, drive platform enhancements, and shape technology strategies that accelerate product outcomes while delivering measurable business value.

You’ll partner with Sales, Product, Pricing, Boarding, Implementation, and Operations to ensure seamless end-to-end capabilities and ongoing modernization of critical platforms, cloud integrations, and governance practices.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams delivering complex initiatives across multiple systems.
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices including .NET, SQL, Agile delivery methodologies.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage resources, and balance business and technology priorities.

In this role, you will lead the evolution of the technology that powers Heartland’s Sales business, driving innovations that simplify operations, accelerate growth, and enhance merchant experiences. By partnering with cross-functional stakeholders and empowering high-performing engineering teams, you will influence strategic technology decisions, deliver scalable solutions, and create meaningful business impact. What you’ll own

• Drive the delivery of high-impact platform enhancements that improve sales effectiveness, streamline operational processes, and create measurable value for merchants, colleagues, and the business.
• Lead and develop high-performing agile teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement while enabling individuals to grow their skills and careers.
• Shape technology and delivery strategies that accelerate product outcomes, improve quality, and ensure scalable solutions that support evolving business needs.
• Influence cross-functional priorities and execution, partnering with Sales, Product, Pricing, Boarding, Implementation, and Operations teams to deliver seamless end-to-end business capabilities.
• Champion engineering excellence and operational reliability by optimizing development practices, automation, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes, and governance standards to improve speed, quality, and business outcomes.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams and successfully delivering complex initiatives that involve multiple systems, stakeholders, and business functions.
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including experience with .NET, SQL, Agile delivery methodologies, and technology solution implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage resources effectively, and deliver high-quality outcomes while balancing multiple business and technology priorities.
• Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing talent, with a track record of building engaged teams and helping individuals achieve career growth.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and relationship management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value and influence decision-making at all levels.
• It’s a bonus if you have Experience leading modernization initiatives involving legacy applications, cloud technologies, and large-scale codebase transformation.
• Certifications in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience working with distributed teams across onshore, nearshore, and offshore environments within the payments or financial technology industry.
