Job Description

The Application Development Manager is responsible for managing the technical needs across the PBM Benefits space in the Pharmacy Benefits Management segment. They oversee the development, operations, and support of the myPBM suite of applications. This role collaborates closely with technical leaders in the myPBM space & Claims Adjudication team to assess business goals, strategic objectives, and to develop a comprehensive multi-year roadmap for the myPBM teams.

This position requires close collaboration with Business Stakeholders, Product Managers/Owners, and Engineering teams across different environments. The manager will work with senior leaders to ensure investments align with enterprise strategic goals and technology roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Understand, manage, and report on the technical needs of the web portfolio related to PBM processes, focusing on delivering high-quality business outcomes.
• Analyze operational practices for effectiveness and practicality, fostering a culture of innovation.
• Serve as the primary contact for planning development needs for new initiatives and as an escalation point for existing development resources.
• Establish a clear vision aligned with company values, set challenging yet achievable objectives, and motivate teams to meet customer needs, budgets, and business success.
• Coordinate with technical advisors to determine automation, training, and skill development needs.
• Support both business and technical understanding of customer experience, back-end technologies, and business operations.
• Build a high-caliber, diverse team capable of achieving or exceeding goals, fostering teamwork across technology segments.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive IT experience with a focus on engineering development, including:
• Awareness of member experience and opportunities for automation and innovation to reduce legacy platform dependency.
• Experience in documenting business needs and working effectively with technical teams.
• Customer-first mindset and passion for delivering quality tools and content.
• Ability to work collaboratively and drive projects to completion on time and within budget.
• Proficiency in communication across organizational levels.
• 3+ years of direct management experience, including performance reviews and leading cross-functional teams or vendor resources.
• 3+ years of cloud development experience in AWS or Azure.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience with an emphasis on engineering development.
• 5+ years of cloud development in AWS/Azure and software development in Angular, Java Spring.
• Experience with core infrastructure development and integration.
• Knowledge of source control, build/test automation, and DevOps/SecOps practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Experience with microservices and API integrations.
• Passion for developing impactful technology solutions.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering or relevant work experience.

Time type: Full time

Pay Range

The typical pay range is $92,700 - $203,940, depending on experience, education, and location. The position is eligible for bonuses and incentives.
