Mission Pet Health is seeking a Manager, Social Media & Community to bring our social strategy to life across corporate channels and our local hospital network. This role will translate an established strategy into consistent execution that strengthens our brand, supports new client growth, encourages preventive care engagement and helps attract veterinary talent.
The manager will oversee day-to-day social operations, activate platform-specific content, equip hospital teams with practical tools and develop authentic stories featuring our clinicians and teammates. Working across Marketing & Growth, Talent Acquisition and hospital operations, this person will connect enterprise priorities with the local voices and relationships that make each hospital unique.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can create compelling content, manage complex workflows and use performance insights to improve execution.
Key responsibilities
Execute the social strategy
- Translate the social strategy and platform playbooks into quarterly activation plans and a coordinated editorial calendar.
- Manage content scheduling, publishing and ongoing optimization for designated corporate social channels.
- Adapt content to each channel’s audience, purpose and format rather than distributing identical content across platforms.
- Maintain playbooks, account standards and workflows as business needs and audience behavior evolve.
Develop content and clinician storytelling
- Write social copy and create or coordinate platform-native content, including short-form video, employee stories and educational content.
- Partner with Brand & Creative on campaign assets, templates and a reusable content library.
- Build a reliable pipeline of stories from hospitals, clinicians and teammates.
- Coordinate clinician and employee participation, including briefs, consent, approvals and content development.
- Apply medical review requirements to educational content and route clinical questions to appropriate teams.
Activate the hospital network
- Partner with Field Marketing to implement the hospital activation model through a phased rollout.
- Provide hospital teams with practical toolkits, localized content, training and clear weekly actions.
- Support local brand identity and clinical autonomy while maintaining enterprise standards.
- Track participation, identify execution barriers and share successful approaches across the network.
- Maintain account access, contributor guidance and onboarding resources for participating teams.
Manage community engagement and social listening
- Oversee monitoring and response workflows for assigned social channels, coordinating coverage with internal teams or partners.
- Apply approved guidance for routine questions, complaints and sensitive conversations.
- Escalate medical concerns, employee issues and reputational risks to designated owners.
- Surface audience questions, emerging themes and feedback that can inform content and business decisions.
- Implement approved approaches to external communities and professional forums, respecting participation rules and audience expectations.
- Identify relevant topics, news and trends to inform business and content decisions.
Support employer brand and talent attraction
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Communications to activate the employer brand through social content and employee advocacy.
- Showcase credible examples of Mission’s culture, clinical autonomy, mentorship and career development.
- Coordinate clinician creator, student and campus content initiatives with recruiting partners.
- Highlight the benefits of joining Mission Pet to potential hospital sellers to support business development.
- Support employer review monitoring and approved response workflows in partnership with HR and Communications.
- Connect social activity to relevant career destinations and recruiting campaigns.
Measure performance and improve execution
- Maintain reporting on content performance, community engagement, hospital adoption and program execution.
- Partner with Analytics, Finance and Talent Acquisition to evaluate client and candidate outcomes using agreed definitions and data sources.
- Implement campaign tracking and support pilot and control-group measurement where feasible.
- Distinguish engagement indicators from demonstrated business impact and document attribution limitations.
- Turn findings into clear recommendations for content, channel and rollout improvements.
Maintain governance and delivery
- Manage briefs, deadlines, approvals and assigned vendor or agency deliverables.
- Follow brand, medical, legal and corporate communications review requirements.
- Maintain documented response procedures, account permissions and escalation contacts.
- Track assigned program spending and flag resource needs or delivery risks.
Required qualifications
- Five or more years of relevant experience in social media, content marketing, community management or integrated digital marketing.
- Experience translating strategy into editorial plans, campaigns and repeatable execution workflows.
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, including experience developing short-form social video.
- Experience managing social publishing, monitoring and analytics tools.
- Demonstrated success coordinating stakeholders, creative partners and competing priorities.
- Ability to interpret performance data and recommend practical improvements.
- Sound judgment when handling public feedback, sensitive topics and approval requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in veterinary care, healthcare, a distributed service organization or a business with multiple local brands.
- Experience supporting hospital, field or local marketing teams.
- Familiarity with employer branding, employee advocacy or talent attraction campaigns.
- Experience working with clinicians, subject matter experts or employee creators.
- Familiarity with social search, local discovery and campaign attribution.
