The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks a Manager of School and Teacher Programs to join the Education department and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the museum’s school and teacher programs, including onsite MADLab field trips for K-12 students, long-term school partnership programs, and periodic professional development workshops for teachers. This position also manages, trains, and supports the team of part-time museum educators who lead our K-12 field trips.
Our ideal candidate is a hands-on, highly organized, and emotionally intelligent manager with a depth of knowledge of best practices in art education (particularly in museums and other informal learning environments), working knowledge of the NYC school system, strong teaching skillsets, demonstrated managerial experience, and excellent organization and project management skills.
This is a multi-faceted role that blends day-to-day logistics, planning and implementing student and teacher-centered programs, occasional field trip facilitation, and managing a team of part-time educators. Successful candidates will have the ability to manage concurrent projects and balance short-term and long-term priorities, including mission-driven and revenue generating programs. The Manager will collaborate with the Deputy Director of Education to expand the reach of existing programs while ensuring high-quality learning experiences. This role reports to the Deputy Director of Education and works collaboratively with colleagues as an integral part of the Education department team while includes the Manager of Teen and Intergenerational Programs and the Manager of Public Programs and Artist Studios, as well as cross-departmentally throughout the Museum.

This is a full-time, exempt position with compensation of $66,300 per annum.
Generally, MAD expects a weekly schedule 9:30am–5:30pm, which includes an unpaid hour for lunch, at a minimum of 35 hours per week. That said, this position requires flexibility as an on-site presence and availability to work occasional weekend and evenings aligned with program schedules.
