Manager SAP – Durham, NC
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive leadership to the SAP team and support for the S/4HANA SAP environment, including modules PP, MM, SD, QM, WM, EDI, Vistex, and Vertex.
- Oversee development, maintenance, and optimization of functional applications within SAP, ensuring seamless operation of the core system and database.
- Lead global delivery and support of SAP to all business units (Finance, Accounting, Operations, and additional departments as required).
- Act as a trusted partner with IT leadership, stakeholders, end users, and external partners; provide strategic direction and facilitate consensus on deployment timing.
- Lead and execute special requests, audits, projects, initiatives, and presentations for leadership.
- Establish and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and track performance against targets.
- Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) monthly for internal and external teams.
- Collaborate with staff, contractors, and outsourcing providers to deliver unified SAP support and high‑quality service.
- Manage and mentor staff, conduct full performance‑management cycle, coach and guide direct reports to meet or exceed objectives.
- Ensure all activities comply with internal and external requirements and standards.
- Manage release and change‑control processes for SAP updates; train users on new features.
- Review, negotiate, and finalize IT contracts; optimize terms for cost and performance.
- Approve invoices and manage budget alignment with procurement and IT teams.
- Attract, develop, and retain talent; provide continuous feedback and coaching using performance‑management tools.
- Investigate industry trends and new SAP application versions; advise senior IT management.
- Provide 24/7/365 on‑call support as needed for after‑hours and weekend support.
- Work a hybrid schedule: three days in the office, two days from a commuting‑distance location.
- Travel nationally and internationally up to ten percent of the time for meetings and trainings.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Management, or a closely related field plus at least eight (8) years of experience in SAP system design, process re‑engineering, deployment, or enhancement.
- Eight (8) years of experience designing and deploying SAP environments.
- Eight (8) years of experience integrating SAP Materials Management with Warehouse and Transportation Management.
- Six (6) years of experience with at least four (4) of the following modules/technologies: Sales & Distribution (SD); Logistic Execution; Materials Management (MM); Warehouse Management (WM); Electronic Data Interchange (EDI); Production Planning (PP); Quality Management (QM); Vistex.
- Four (4) years of experience with Vertex and S/4HANA.
- Four (4) years of experience with 21 CFR Part11 regulations.
- Three (3) years of experience in a SAP customer‑facing environment.
- Experience leading large‑scale SAP implementations involving integration, conversion, cut‑over, system integration testing, acceptance testing, requirement gathering, and coordination with the IT team.
- Three (3) full‑cycle ERP implementations.
- Ten (10) years of experience (or a bachelor’s degree) as an alternate qualification path.
- 24/7/365 on‑call support willingness for weekend and after‑hours support.
