About the Role:
The Manager, Sales Planning & Forecasting will be responsible for developing accurate sales forecasts and supporting strategic sales planning for our self-assist business. This role will partner closely with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Brand teams to translate business strategies, product launches, promotional activity, retail trends, and historical performance into actionable sales plans and forecasts. This individual will provide clear visibility into sales outlook, risks, and opportunities, helping the organization optimize inventory, align commercial priorities, and deliver revenue and growth objectives across channels and markets.
Job Duties and Accountabilities:
- Lead the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts.
- Partner with National Account team to build customer-level forecasts and incorporate retailer insights, promotional plans, and business opportunities into the forecast.
- Analyze historical sales, seasonality, product lifecycle, promotional activity, distribution, pricing, and market trends to identify key business drivers.
- Develop sales plans and targets aligned with overall company, brand, and category objectives.
- Develop and maintain gross-to-net (GTN) forecasts, including discounts, promotions, returns, allowances, and other deductions, to support accurate net sales projections and revenue planning.
- Support forecasting and planning for new product launches, including launch timing, initial demand assumptions, distribution plans, and sales ramp-up.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Brand teams to incorporate campaign calendars, product launches, gifting periods, and other key commercial activities into sales forecasts.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Demand Planning to ensure sales expectations are aligned with inventory requirements and product availability.
- Work closely with Finance to align sales forecasts with budgets, financial plans, and revenue targets.
- Monitor actual sales performance against forecast and plan, identify key variances, and provide recommendations to address risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Develop and maintain sales reporting, dashboards, and KPIs that provide clear visibility into performance by brand, category, SKU, customer, channel, and region.
- Track key sales planning metrics, including forecast accuracy, sales growth, sell-in, sell-through, inventory, distribution, and promotional performance.
- Support retailer and customer planning processes, including sales targets, promotional forecasts, assortment changes, and business reviews.
- Identify opportunities to improve forecasting methodologies, planning processes, reporting, and data quality.
- Prepare clear, concise presentations and recommendations for Sales leadership and senior management.
- Lead cross-functional planning projects and ad hoc analyses that support commercial and strategic business priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or merchandising preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in sales planning, forecasting, sales operations, commercial analytics, finance, or a related function.
- Experience in the beauty, fragrance, cosmetics, fashion, luxury, consumer products, or broader retail industry
- Experience with Ulta & Sephora
- Strong understanding of sales forecasting, demand drivers, seasonality, promotions, product launches, and retail dynamics.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets and financial or sales models.
- Experience with ERP, CRM, BI, or sales planning systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear business insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Pay range and compensation package
$90,000 - $120,000 per year with annual bonus potential.
