Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent of Food Lion, seeks a Safety Leader to set strategic direction in safety, environment and risk reduction across the Food Lion brand, directing safety improvements to reduce injuries.

The role leads a team of safety professionals, partners with senior leadership and regulators, and drives continuous improvement while working a hybrid schedule with in-person days in Salisbury, NC and other core locations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of safety within the Food Lion brand including long-term safety and regulatory initiatives with focus on continuous improvement, KPIs & metrics.
  • Lead and support Safety Specialists and brand support team as the 'lead' safety expert.
  • Act as Brand lead with regulatory agencies; build relations with OSHA, MOSH, VOSH, etc.
  • Advise leadership on safety risks and integrate injury prevention into brand strategy.
  • Collaborate with all business areas on equipment, processes, and work enviroment affecting safety.
  • Create and monitor performance metrics of safety programs.
  • Maintain communication with operations to align priorities and results.

Introduction

Overview

The purpose of this position is to lead and set the strategic direction in the areas of safety, environmental and risk reduction for Ahold Delhaize USA supporting the Food Lion brand. This position will be responsible and accountable for the design, oversight and delivery of safety improvements that positively impact and reduce the exposure related to associate and customer injuries.

Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, Hyattsville, MD and Mauldin, SC.

Partner with Senior Brand Leadership to ensure customer satisfaction & brand risk reduction through education and verification of designated safety standards and procedures. Assess, determine and direct continuous improvements and ensure a proactive safety operational plan through training, coaching, auditing and mentoring activities.

Position provides subject matter expertise in safety and environmental risks. This position manages and directs a team of safety specialists supporting Food Lion.

Responsibilities
  • Direct all aspects of safety within the Food Lion brand including but not limited to leading long-term safety and regulatory compliance initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement, prevention, KPIs & metrics, interpretation of regulatory standards and legislation and identification of industry trends and best practices.
  • Direct and support the Safety Specialists and brand support team. Serve as 'lead' safety expert within the Brand
  • Act as the Brand lead and liaison with regulatory agencies. Develop contacts and relations with officials responsible for environmental, health & safety regulation enforcement (OSHA, MOSH, VOSH, etc). Actively participate and assume leadership roles in local regulatory and trade associations educate and be advocate for company safety standard practices/policies/programs.
  • Conduct on-going problem-solving based on an objective assessment of the facts or circumstances while using collaborative work methods to achieve consensus. Advise leadership and business partners regarding safety risks within the brand.
  • Integrate essential aspects of injury prevention and compliance into the execution of brand strategy.
  • Partner with all business areas to identify the best equipment, process, workflow, work environment and facility decisions which impact associate and customer safety.
  • Create and utilize performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of operating systems and safety programs.
  • Maintain effective communication with and support to operations that will ensure agreement on priorities and desired results.

ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $108,880 - $163,320

Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
