The department of University Housing and the Resident Experience (UHRE) in the Division of Student Affairs is seeking to hire a Manager, Residential Experience. The Manager is responsible for the broad-scope administration and daily management of an on-campus residential area consisting of six residence halls housing approximately 2,000 students. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of three full-time area coordinators, 60 resident assistants and additional student staff. This position manages a particular functional area within the Resident Experience unit including student staff selection, recruitment, training and development. The Manager works closely with various campus stakeholders, including Student Affairs staff, ULPD and the UHRE Housing Operations and Facilities sub-units, to ensure cohesive processes, effective communication, and a holistic approach to student support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures their residential area operates effectively in areas such as academic and social programming, leadership development, student support, student conduct, facilities management, administrative paperwork and occupancy management
  • Directly supervises three full-time professional staff and 60 student staff to ensure follow through and additional support for administrative processes such as health and safety checks, occupancy and census checks, facility concerns, student behavioral concerns and the implementation of required programming
  • Participates as a member of the department’s on-call team to address urgent residential matters and resident crisis response
  • Assists to train and coach staff on University and UHRE policies and procedures regularly inclusive of professional and student staff serving in an on-call capacity
  • Supports the development and implementation of residential programming and education efforts designed to increase resident retention and student success
  • Supports housing student organizations (Residence Hall Association/National Residence Hall Honorary) and assists with the oversight of hall councils
  • Assists with other Division initiatives and operations as necessary including, but not limited to, freshman orientation and Welcome Week
  • Serves on the Expressive Activity Team and provides guidance and insight to UHRE staff on policies related to the First Amendment
  • Promotes a safe, convenient, inclusive and healthy living-learning environment, providing opportunities that engage students, facilitate student and faculty connections, and encourage student success
  • Ensures wellness and well-being initiatives are infused into the resident experience through collaborative efforts with Campus Recreation and Wellness, Campus Health Services, and the Counseling Center
  • Consistently exercises independent judgment and applies a high level of integrity to address various student resident matters, many being very complex and/or involving several individuals yielding significant impact
  • Performs other duties and completes special projects as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Three (3) years of related experience, preferably campus housing
  • Experience supervising professional staff
  • Experience with crisis and emergency response
  • Proficiency or familiarity using housing software such as StarRez or Maxient
Work Hours and Location

This is a full-time, exempt position with a 37.5-hour regular workweek including intermittent evening and weekend hours as required. The primary work location for this position is at the Belknap Campus. Occasional overnight travel (for professional development, conferences, student trips, etc.) may be required.
