Job summary

Graybar is seeking a Manager - Quotations Department to lead costing, quoting, pricing, and technical information for customer specifications. You will supervise two or more full-time staff and guide quote development from materials research to final submission.

The role requires strong pricing strategy, SAP experience, and proven leadership in sales quotations. You will collaborate with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to win profitable quotes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in sales, quotations, and business with leadership background.
  • 6+ years with multiple years of management experience in sales/quotations.
  • 4 year degree in Business or related major preferred; SAP familiarity required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates of materials for internal and external customers.
  • Conduct extensive research to generate quotations from customer specifications.
  • Submit accurate technical quotations under tight deadlines.
  • Manage change order process and job lot billing in branches.
  • Supervise two or more full-time employees and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Analyze quotation activity to improve win rate and learn from losses.

Become part of the excitement.As a Manager - Quotations Department, you will have overall responsibility to provide others with accurate and timely costing, quoting, pricing, and technical information based on customer specifications. You will conduct extensive research and analysis of multiple product lines and manufacturing capabilities in order to generate quotations, and supervise two or more full-time employees.In this role you will:Prepare cost estimates of materials for internal and external customers; compile bills of material utilizing knowledge of products to be manufacturedConduct extensive research prior to submitting quotation that involves identifying customer requirements and performance standards, determining product specifications, and researching manufacturing alternativesConduct ongoing analysis of competitor products and services in an effort to identify strategic opportunities that will enhance the organization's overall ability to compete in the marketComplete and submit accurate and thorough technical quotations against tight deadlines based on technical specifications required by the customerManage the change order process and job lot billing in some branchesPeriodically issue list of quotes to be issued or already issued, and take-offs required by sales employeesSupport Corporate, district, and branch initiatives regarding specific sales promotional opportunitiesMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending specialized training in various product lines, review publications, and establish personal networks and relationships with customers, suppliers, and manufacturersManage staff by establishing goals and objectives for work, and conduct performance appraisalsAnalyze quotation activity to determine how to increase success ratio; review lost opportunities for feedback to modify future quotes for increased successWhat you bring to the table:Minimum 5 years experience in sales, quotations, and business; past experience in a leadership role with a proven track record; minimum 1 year related experience communicating and negotiating with customers, suppliers, and/or manufacturers6+ years of experience with several years management experience in sales, quotations, and business; past experience in a leadership role with a proven track record preferred4 year degree in Business or related major preferredKnowledge of multiple product lines and pricing strategies required to generate quotations that result in profit for the organizationKnowledge of SAP programs used to support the Quotations processKnowledge of Word and Excel with the ability to work with formulas and formats submitted by customer and create original worksheets without prior customer specificationsRelationship-building skills required to gain cooperation from diverse groupsMathematical skills with the ability to perform basic calculations accurately and quicklyOrganizational and time management skills required to manage large, multiple projects on a daily basisNegotiation, oral and written communication skills required for interaction with customers, suppliers, and manufacturersAbility to work with people at all levels of the organization and achieve results by working with members of the team outside of the immediate Quotations DepartmentAbility to resolve both internal and external conflictAbility to develop relationships internally and externally and project a positive and professional image on behalf of the CompanyAbility to think strategically and adapt to changing customer needs and expectationsSome travel requiredCompensation Details: The expected starting rate of pay for this position is $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
