Job description

Here at ScottsMiracle-Gro there is no such thing as a typical day. Our culture is constantly energized by new and exciting growth opportunities and at a rapid pace. Below are details on an open job.

We are looking for a Quality Manager, LGOR who will join our team.

The LGOR (Lawns, Gardens, Ortho, Roundup) Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in driving quality excellence by leading complex vendor programs and providing cross-functional leadership across our manufacturing network. This role serves as the primary quality owner for the contract manufacturing sites and leads the robust vendor quality program for facilities, including audits, score-carding, and monthly performance stewardship. Additionally, this position provides dotted-line quality oversight and strategic direction to three distinct internal manufacturing facilities (injection molding, fertilizer, and seed). If you excel at bridging the gap between external vendors, cross-functional teams, and plant operations, this role offers high visibility and the autonomy to make a massive impact on our quality standards.

In this role you will:
  • Supplier & Vendor Quality Management - Lead monthly vendor performance meetings, execute comprehensive vendor audits (including site, lab, and traceability audits), validate the robustness of vendor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), and manage new supplier qualifications.
  • Matrix Leadership & Operations Support - Provide dotted-line quality oversight to internal manufacturing sites and contract manufacturers through regular biweekly reviews. Act as the primary escalation point for resolving site issues, write product waivers, and develop and implement control plans.
  • Quality Analytics & Continuous Improvement - Conduct frequent data analytics reviews to identify defect trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Manage specialized strategic project work (e.g., mold management programs) and execute periodic store audits.
  • New Product Commercialization & R&D - Support upcoming new product launches by actively participating in cross-functional project meetings, overseeing R&D trials for new products, and ensuring quality standards are established early in the commercialization process.
What you'll need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Science or Engineering
  • Desired: ISO, Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% to domestic sites to support internal manufacturing, contract sites, and audits
  • 7-10 Years of experience prefered
  • Quality or operations experience preferred.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management: Proven track record of managing external vendors and contract manufacturing operations, including performance score-carding, conducting site audits, and stewarding monthly continuous improvement efforts
  • Navigating Ambiguity: Proven capability to manage situational ambiguity, effectively operating and making decisions even when information is incomplete or the formal reporting path is unclear
  • Action-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive tasks forward with a sense of urgency, enthusiasm, and high autonomy
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical information and collaborate cross-functionally to get things done
  • Data Analysis: Strong practical application of data analysis, including the capacity to organize, interpret, and draw actionable business insights from large data sets
  • Auditing Expertise: Established auditing experience to ensure internal and external compliance, identify areas for improvement, and drive corrective actions
  • Standardization & Mentorship: Experience developing, standardizing, and delivering quality-related training and procedures across matrixed or cross-functional teams
  • Manufacturing Experience: Practical manufacturing experience, preferably within process-oriented environments (e.g., injection molding, fertilizer) or with external contract manufacturing operations

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $103,700.00 - $122,000.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs. For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
