Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) seeks a strategic PFT Manager to lead the Pulmonary Function Laboratories across main campus and outpatient sites, ensuring excellent patient experience and clinical outcomes. The role requires 24/7 operational leadership, budget management, staff development, regulatory compliance, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; 5+ years PFT experience; 4+ years supervisory; PA RT license with RPFT/RRT; neonatal/pediatric

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • At least five (5) years experience in pulmonary function testing.
  • At least four (4) years supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Respiratory Therapist license with RPFT/RRT credentials.
  • neonatal/pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 24/7 department operations to ensure equitable, timely, safe care.
  • Ensure optimal patient and family experience and staff development.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budget and financial resources.
  • Foster a culture of safety, compliance with regulatory standards, and collaboration across disciplines.

About The Job

This PFT Manager position is Full Time- 40 hours a week-


Responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of all staff in the Pulmonary Function Laboratories which provides testing at the main building, King of Prussia, Voorhees and all outpatient pulmonary physician practices, to achieve excellent patient and family experience and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates knowledge of the Health Care Environment. This includes setting of standards, development of systems, supervision of practice and employees, coordination of other disciplines and departments to achieve the mission and goals of the department and enterprise.

    • Assumes twenty-four hour accountability for department operations, to ensure care is equitable, timely, effective, efficient and safe.

    • Foster an environment that utilizes evidence based practice and research to adopt and implement innovative care practices

    • Participates in planning for research activities required to be performed in laboratories

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience

  • At least five (5) years experience in the field of pulmonary function testing. Required
  • At least three (3) years experience in the care of neonatal/pediatric patients. Preferred
  • At least four (4) years supervisory/leadership experience Required
  • Licenses/Certifications
  • Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania)- Pennsylvania State Licensing Board upon hire Required OR
  • Osteopathic Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) Pennsylvania State Licensing Board upon hire Required AND
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire Required and
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Tech (RPFT) National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire Required

$98,820.00 - $126,000.00 Annually
