Job description

Under guidance from the Vice President, Domestic Learning Sales, the Manager, Public Sales for Gale is responsible for mentoring and developing the assigned sales teams to drive sales and performance to ensure sales goals are consistently reached. Additionally, this role involves creating, managing, and reporting results on sales metrics, programs, and forecasting. This position provides leadership and strategic direction for assigned teams of sales representatives within the sales organization.

What You'll Do Here

  1. Meet/exceed sales goals by providing leadership and guidance on territory sales plans.
  2. Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and lead the sales team.
  3. Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
  4. Assign sales territory and account responsibilities.
  5. Represent Gale at trade shows and customer-facing events.
  6. Collaborate with sales representatives to deliver sales presentations to key clients.
  7. Travel to meet with key clients, build relationships, negotiate, and close deals.
  8. Analyze and control team expenditures to meet budget targets.
  9. Support ongoing product and sales training programs; evaluate and improve team skills.
  10. Monitor competitors' activities and products to inform territory strategy.
  11. Participate in marketing and product development with cross-functional teams.
  12. Lead sales meetings and conferences.
  13. Conduct coaching sessions to enhance team performance and development.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Domestic Learning Sales.

Skills You Will Need Here

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • At least eight years of sales experience, including a minimum of three years in sales management.
  • Experience working with inside and field sales teams.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals as a manager.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle variable situations.
  • Validated leadership and team development skills, including sales coaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, desktop programs, and electronic references.
  • Strong understanding of business-to-business professional selling techniques.
  • Knowledge of financial procedures, networking, and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Travel requirements between 25-50%.
