Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Manager, Public Relations to lead U.S. PR for Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

Based in New York or Boston, you will join a three‑person team reporting to the VP of External Communications and manage media relations, press materials and thought leadership across a global asset manager. You will pitch media, handle interview requests, distribute market commentary, maintain media lists and support product launches and events while tracking impact and ensuring

The individual will plan and execute U.S. public relations activities for Columbia Threadneedle Investments – a global asset manager that provides a broad range of investment solutions to both retail and institutional clients across all major asset classes, domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will have meaningful public relations experience, preferably from working in-house in the financial services industry or at a public relations agency that serves the industry.Primary responsibilities include interacting with the media, including but not limited to creating and executing impactful pitches, responding to and managing interview requests, distributing market commentary and thought leadership content, creating and maintaining media lists and working with a retained PR agency. The individual will assist with the preparation and distribution of press releases, Q&A documents and other materials for a variety of initiatives, including product launches, manager changes and other events. The individual will also have responsibility for media tracking, analysis and reporting and manage other initiatives, including industry recognition, polls and surveys.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree3-5 years of experience in public relations or corporate communications, preferably from working in financial services, at a public relations agency that serves the industry or in another complex, regulated industryExperience working successfully with journalists who cover business, markets and/or investingExcellent verbal communication skillsStrong editing, research, problem solving, project management and interpersonal skillsAbility to think creatively and independently about PR tacticsStrong attention to detail and a client-service mind-setAbility to work well as part of an engaged, cross-organizational teamAbility to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience with corporate social mediaExperience with media monitoring and analytical software/toolsExperience measuring, reporting and analyzing media relations activitiesThe successful candidate will need to acquire a FINRA Series 7 License within 180 days of their start date, if they do not already have one. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
