Job summary

Royal Caribbean Group seeks a seasoned Project Manager to proactively plan, coordinate and drive ship revitalization and refurbishment projects within time and budget while upholding safety standards and brand guidelines.

You will liaise with Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, ShoreEx, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Environment, and shipyards to ensure milestones are met and value delivered across a $10–50 million portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering background highly desired.
  • Institute of Marine Engineers/Naval Architects or similar background preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting technical projects, shipbuilding or ship revitalization.
  • Must have experience in end-to-end project delivery: contracting, planning and execution.
  • Must have project risk management experience and the ability to read drawings and specs.
  • Familiar with sourcing, procurement and logistics in large/global orgs.
  • Proficient with Windows, MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD; travel internationally.

  • Manages vendors, ensuring they meet time, budget, safety and brand guidelines.

  • Communicate project plan status to project team and stakeholders.
  • Establish goals and analyze work processes.
  • Tracks timing, budget, cost control and reporting.
  • Utilizes project management tools to develop and maintain scope and manage expectations.
  • Communicate project plan status on a regular basis to project team and stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as required; portfolio valued at approximately $10–50 million.

Position Summary:

Proactively plans, coordinates and drives projects so they are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budget, while meeting all safety standards and brand guidelines. Liaises with Brand operating department representatives involved in the Revitalization of a ship: Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, ShoreEx, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Environment and ship yards. Typical assignments would include ship projects such as Revitalizations and Refurbishment projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Confers with matrixed constituent department representatives and vendors to outline milestones, establish work plans, responsibilities, scope and tracking routines.
  • Follow-up on team members to meet project deadlines and provide input on team member activities for schedule review process.
  • Manages vendors, ensuring they meet our time, budget, safety and brand guidelines.
  • Coordinates activities to ensure project progresses on schedule, accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses
  • Manage and coordinate at a high level, all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies.
  • Communicate project plan status on a regular basis to project team and project stakeholders.
  • Establishing goals and analyses project work process.
  • Tracks timing, budget, cost control and reporting.
  • Utilizes project management tools and techniques to develop and maintain project scope; manages customer expectations and maintains focus.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or years of equivalent experience. B.S. in Marine Engineering or Naval Architect highly desired and/or architectural degree to ensure competence in multiple types of shipboard project work, including all technical installations and interior outfitting.
  • Institute of Marine Engineers/Naval Architects or similar background preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting technical projects, shipbuilding or ship revitalization
  • Must have experience in managing end-to-end project delivery, from contracting, planning and overseeing the execution of planned activities per defined scope, budget, timeline and quality standards.
  • Must have experience in project risk management: able to identify, analyze and respond to project risks on a timely manner.
  • Must be familiar with design and construction execution processes. Able to understand and interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Must be familiar with sourcing, procurement and logistics procedures of a large and/or global organization.
  • Must have working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Suite, MS Project or related project management software and AutoCAD. Internet and e-mail literate with ability to send, receive and attach files as required.
  • Must be able to travel internationally.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Software: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, must communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial and spreadsheet modeling skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Work in shipyards during project executions with very basic accommodations.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those requirements employees must meet to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, and stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10-15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally. Visual requirement include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
  • Up to 35% travel required to support project development, vendor visits to vessels and site teams at locations shortly before and during all projects. Travel may be required for up to 60 consecutive days.
