Qualifications

Job Description

The Manager, Programming Publicity will be responsible for generating maximum, positive media for Telemundo’s entertainment programming, with a focus on daytime, scripted and unscripted shows. The role reports to the SVP, Publicity and Communications.

Responsibilities
  • Development and execution of comprehensive plans for external publicity (consumer media and social influencers) generating maximum amount of positive coverage for key programming premieres, priorities and other entertainment-related projects for daytime, scripted and unscripted entertainment programming.
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills, in English and Spanish, to create consumer press materials including press releases, media alerts, pitch letters, talent bios, as well as coordinate and manage pr activities such as press junkets, media interviews, on-set visits, photo shoots, EPK’s and press kits.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets with a focus on top-tier consumer outlets to reach core and new Telemundo viewers and other relevant audiences.
  • Ensure digital publicity efforts are a key part of all campaigns and create targeted strategies for social media influencers/content creators to expand promotional campaigns in the social media space and other non-traditional media outlets and identify appropriate influencers per campaign.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with digital creators, influencers, podcasters and emerging content platforms to expand audience reach and drive cultural relevance for key programming initiatives.
  • Utilize AI-powered communications, media monitoring, audience intelligence and content creation tools to enhance publicity planning, identify trends, optimize workflows and support strategic decision-making while adhering to company guidelines and best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance, media sentiment, audience engagement and competitive trends using traditional and AI-enabled analytics platforms, providing actionable insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Identify and implement innovative publicity approaches, technologies and industry best practices to enhance campaign effectiveness, efficiency and audience engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, digital marketing, cross-promotions and programming teams to create cohesive and consistent promotional plans across functions and platforms.
  • Prepare talent and company executives for media interviews, press events and speaking opportunities.
  • Partner with corporate and internal comms counterparts to support, position and convert campaigns into full 360 plans across all communications areas.
  • Collaborate with PR agencies to drive story creation and favorable coverage.
  • Service daily media requests and act as network source of information for assigned programming publicity properties.
  • Monitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news, and interface with other departments and NBCUniversal channels on an as needed basis.
  • Works under the direct supervision of SVP, Publicity and Communications and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to produce thorough reports and executive summaries detailing the results of strategic efforts for publicity campaigns as well as evaluating campaign performance to inform communications strategies.
  • Familiarity with generative AI platforms and AI-powered communications, research, monitoring and productivity tools, with the ability to leverage emerging technologies responsibly and effectively.
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. Hispanic media landscape, audience behaviors, digital consumption trends and social media best practices.
  • Knowledge and hands-on use of Digital and Social Media platforms.
  • Highly organized and able to manage/prioritize multiple projects.
  • Must be fully fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Experience working for or with PR agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related collaboration tools) and familiarity with communications, media monitoring and project management platforms.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
  • Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends.
  • Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
  • Experience working with entertainment/consumer media, with emphasis on US Hispanic media
  • Thorough understanding of digital publicity activities and measurement.
  • Comfortable navigating a rapidly evolving media landscape and identifying opportunities across traditional, digital and creator-led platforms.
  • Proven skills in launching shows, crisis management and interfacing with all levels of executives, talent and media.
  • Strategic, analytical and creative skill set.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, including AI-powered communications tools, audience intelligence platforms and innovative approaches to media engagement.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data, audience insights and performance metrics into effective publicity strategies and actionable recommendations.
  • Previous journalism background desired but not required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communications and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized self-starter able to work both independently and with a team.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet numerous deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Additional Requirements

This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
