Job summary

Volvo Group in Hagerstown, MD leads a production team in assembling heavy-duty components with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and delivery. This role drives VPS adoption, develops personnel, and ensures cross-functional collaboration to meet annual targets.

The manager will coach the assembly organization, maintain safe practices, and advance the organization through structured development and accountability across the plant.

  • Ensure a safe work environment and implement risk identification and mitigation
  • Continue the implementation of Volvo Production System (VPS) and standardize ways of working
  • Own your team’s development, UAW relations, project follow up and policy deployment from plant to operator level
  • Inspire through a communicative leadership style with two-way communication and high engagement
  • Ensure employees understand responsibilities and contributions to the total result
  • Develop industrial workforce to secure competence
  • Assess performance and initiate training or corrective action to optimize efficiency

  • Manage your Assembly organization against setting safety, quality, delivery and financial targets by leading and coaching your production team
  • Ensure a safe work environment and behaviors for all team members using a methodical approach to risk identification, mitigation and competence development
  • Continue the implementation of Volvo Production System (VPS), which means to implement standardized ways of working, develop the organization and achieve contribution from all employees
  • Full accountability and ownership of your team's development, UAW relations, project follow up, midterm road map (0-1 year) and policy deployment from plant to operator level.
  • Inspire and influence through a communicative leadership style with your team and cross functional groups, with 2-way communication and high employee engagement.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result and that they are recognized for performance
  • Develop industrial workforce to secure competence
  • Assess performance, competencies, and flexibility of employees within the department and initiate appropriate training, counselling, or corrective action to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the employees

  • The ideal candidate for this position has an associate's degree in a relevant field and five (5) years' supervision experience in a manufacturing environment OR seven years minimum combined education and supervision experience within a manufacturing environment.

For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000- $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
