POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Manager of the Process Engineering team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Hazelett’s technology as a key member of Hazelett’s leadership group. In this role, you will lead a talented team responsible for supporting customer operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, developing technical solutions, and supporting the successful execution of Hazelett projects. You will work closely with customers, sales, engineering, manufacturing, and management to identify opportunities for process improvements, product enhancements, and new business growth.

You and your team will work closely with colleagues across the organization to solve complex operational and engineering challenges while contributing innovative solutions that enhance our products, processes, and customer experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  1. People Management: Your primary responsibility will be to manage and support a team of Process Engineers. Conduct regular employee check-ins, support professional development, mentor team members, and ensure the team has the resources, training, and support needed to succeed.
  2. Customer Support: Serve as a key technical resource for customers by addressing questions, resolving operational issues, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  3. Sales Support: Partner with the sales team to develop responses to customer inquiries, support requests for quotations, create technical sales verbiage, develop scopes of work and create project schedules and Gantt charts for field service activities.
  4. Product Development: Support Hazelett’s development initiatives by identifying opportunities for caster upgrades, process improvements, and operational enhancements that improve customer value and product performance.
  5. Quality and Corrective Actions: Support the corrective action and escape management processes by investigating issues, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous process improvements.
  6. Department Planning and Administration: Maintain department planning tools, including travel planning schedules, develop and manage department budgets, track expenditures, and support strategic planning initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  1. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, process improvement methodologies, troubleshooting techniques, and project execution. Experience with metal processing, continuous casting, or related industrial equipment is highly desirable.
  2. Leadership and Team Management: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, sales teams, engineering and manufacturing personnel, vendors, and executive leadership.
  4. Business Development Support: Ability to develop technical proposals, scopes of work, quotations, project schedules, and customer-facing documentation.
  5. Independent and Collaborative Working: Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively across functional teams.
  6. Educational Requirements: A minimum of a B.S. in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, with 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  7. Management Experience: Proven history of supervising or managing technical teams and supporting organizational objectives within a project or functional area.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties will be carried out in an office environment, manufacturing production floor, and at customer and supplier sites as required, which might include occasional exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery. The employee must utilize personal safety equipment when working on the production floor. Travel to attend meetings and visit customers is required.

The base pay range for this full-time position is $95,000 – $150,000. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
