Job summary

Hazelett's Vermont facility is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician II to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and building systems. You will troubleshoot issues, complete repairs, and lead improvement projects with minimal supervision.

The role requires a high school or technical diploma and 5+ years in industrial maintenance, with the ability to read drawings and operate site equipment. Overtime, winter on-call, and safety-minded work are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or technical diploma, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in industrial maintenance or manufacturing.
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications; troubleshoot independently.
  • Valid driver's license; able to operate facility vehicles.
  • Overtime and on-call availability, especially in winter months.
  • HVAC/plumbing/electrical certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and complete repairs with sound technical judgment.
  • Lead construction, renovation, and facility improvement projects with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect, lubricate, service, and maintain equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Maintain company grounds including seasonal upkeep and snow removal.
  • Operate forklifts, tractors, loaders, snowplows, and other facility equipment.
  • Mentor less-experienced Facilities team members.
  • Identify and communicate equipment, material, and facility concerns to the Facilities Team Lead.
  • Support a safe, clean, and productive manufacturing environment.

Hazelett is a global leader in the design and manufacture of continuous casting equipment, with more than 100 casters operating in 25 countries around the world. Our Vermont facility brings together engineering and manufacturing to build highly specialized equipment for the global metals industry.

Position Overview

As Facilities Technician II, you'll perform skilled preventive and corrective maintenance across our production equipment and facility. This is a hands-on role for an experienced maintenance professional who can troubleshoot problems, complete repairs and improvement projects, and work independently while supporting the broader Facilities team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues and complete repairs using sound technical judgment.
  • Complete construction, renovation, and facility improvement projects with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect, lubricate, service, and maintain equipment to improve reliability and prevent downtime.
  • Maintain company grounds, including mowing, seasonal upkeep, and snow removal.
  • Operate forklifts, tractors, loaders, snowplows, company vehicles, and other facility equipment.
  • Help train and mentor less-experienced Facilities team members.
  • Identify and communicate equipment, material, and facility concerns to the Facilities Team Lead.
  • Support a safe, clean, and productive manufacturing environment.
Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • High school diploma, technical school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, facilities, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance, repair techniques, and hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, instructions, and specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and complete maintenance work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate facility vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and regularly climb, kneel, bend, reach, and work at heights above 20 feet using ladders and lifts.
  • Willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call coverage as needed, particularly during winter months.
  • HVAC, plumbing, or electrical certification is a plus.

The hourly pay range for this full-time position is $27 - $32. Your hourly pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
