Responsibilities

  • Oversee all print shop operations including leases, maintenance, inventory, POS systems, vendor relations and safety audits.
  • Provide day-to-day operational management of campus print shop and satellite operations.
  • Develop and enforce health, safety, service standards and university policies.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to determine service needs and market offerings.
  • Develop logs, records, and reporting; provide position relief as needed.
  • Lead outreach to increase sales and create diverse revenue streams.
  • Provide vision and leadership for staff; oversee scheduling, payroll, and training.

Education

Bachelor's degree
Minimum of three years' supervisory experience
Five years' experience in managing a print center
Minimum of three years' experience in sales or account management
Combination of education and experience may be considered

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Print Services is responsible for all aspects of the University's print shop, from retail and financial management to physical and online facilities. The Manager sets the vision, exercises leadership, management, and financial skills to provide innovative services, in-store and online, to ensure exemplary customer service, and sound financial practices.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations (40%):
  • Manages equipment leases, maintenance, and inventory, applicable point-of-sale systems, vendor relationships, and safety audits.

  • Provides day-to-day operational management of the campus print shop and any satellite operations, including related delivery services.

  • Maintains and enforces established health, safety, and service standards, including University policies and procedures.

  • Works collaboratively with campus constituents to determine service needs.

  • Creates and/or maintains all required logs, records, files, and reports.

  • Develops working knowledge of all duties; provides position relief, as needed.

Outreach and Communications (20%):
  • Improves outreach on- and off-campus to increase sales.

  • Establishes effective partnerships and maintains positive communications and working relationships to ensure effective human relations management and customer satisfaction.

  • Research product trends and develops innovative offerings.

  • Leads in development of marketing materials and promotional events.

  • Projects a positive image to promote print services.

  • Provides diverse revenue streams.

Supervision (20%):
  • Provides overall vision, leadership, and management for print services, supervising a safe, efficient operation and cultivating teamwork and customer service.

  • Sets employee performance expectations, communicates specific instructions with appropriate follow-through.

  • Establishes and maintains policies, procedures, and standards, including but not limited to quality, service, safety, and cleanliness.

  • Oversees scheduling, payroll, and disciplinary procedures.

  • Manages staff; ensures training programs for all staff. Provides coaching and guidance. Encourages professional development opportunities for staff.

Financial Administration (20%):
  • Manages billing following established procedures.

  • Helps develop and manage annual budget and monthly income projections.

  • Monitors and forecasts budgets.

  • Adheres to financial goals by controlling expenses.

  • Produces and reviews monthly reports, including profit and loss statements, financial analyses, and benchmarking data.

  • Maintains responsibility for all financial assets of the assigned unit, including equipment, receivables, and all physical inventory, and petty cash.

  • Maintains accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledgers, closing books monthly.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Supervises, hires, trains, schedules, and provides work direction and problem-solving assistance for full- and/or part-time employees. Conducts performance reviews, recommends salary increases, promotions, and terminations. Staff: 1-10; students: 1-10

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

This position requires long periods of standing and walking, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to safely use and operate typical printing tools and equipment. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, on occasion.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of three years' supervisory experience

  • Five years' experience in managing a print center; college or university environment preferred

  • Minimum of three years' experience in sales or account management

  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Full-time; Exempt position

  • Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM

SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 7 ($58,011 to $76,877 annually)
