Job Summary:
The Manager of Supply Chain is responsible for managing all aspects of the Materials Department, including receiving, scheduling, warehousing, and shipping activities.
Essential functions of the job:
- Develop departmental systems, procedures, and policies related to purchasing, production, and material control, coordinating with the Quality Department.
- Oversee production schedules, including material procurement and manufacturing timelines, ensuring availability of materials and adherence to inbound and outbound schedules.
- Build and maintain supplier relationships, collaborating with Corporate Purchasing and meeting with supplier representatives.
- Implement efficient and economical methods for material movement, following quality procedures and effecting necessary changes.
- Address delays to meet production and shipping schedules, communicating changes effectively to staff.
- Manage material usage, anticipating trends and requirements for ongoing and new programs.
- Develop systems to ensure departmental effectiveness within quality standards.
- Participate in annual budgeting, reporting costs related to materials and labor as needed.
- Ensure timely shipment schedules to meet customer requirements, developing performance metrics.
- Analyze future customer demand to determine manpower, tooling, and equipment needs.
- Coordinate physical inventories, analyze variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a safe work environment, utilizing 5S, job rotation, ergonomic practices, safety audits, incident reviews, and participation in safety activities.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Required qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience in the field, with 3-5 years in the automotive industry.
- Willingness to travel and work at customer sites, including manufacturing plants requiring physical activity.
