Job summary

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is seeking a Manager Patient Safety to support the Director of Patient Safety & Risk Management in coordinating the clinical risk program and claims management for the facility.

You will lead incident reporting, data analysis, committee coordination and event management while promoting a positive safety culture and cost-conscious improvements in patient care.

Qualifications

  • CPPS certification required or to be obtained within 1 year of start date.
  • Current FL RN license or appropriate compact licensure preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; advanced healthcare degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Patient Safety & Risk Management with coordinating systems for identification, evaluation, monitoring and reduction of liability risk.
  • Receive and process patient complaints; assist with survey events and action plan/report creation.
  • Compile data into spreadsheets for committees using Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
  • Investigate and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks.
  • Coordinate committees and meetings, including scheduling and minutes.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Job Summary:

Assist the Director of Patient Safety & Risk Management with the functions of the clinical risk management program and claims management for the facility. This individual is responsible for assisting with coordinating those systems necessary for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of professional and general liability risk exposures.

What you will do in this role:
  • Receives patient complaints and process as appropriate.
  • Assist in internal/external survey events to include preparation, being readily available, and assisting with action plan/report/response creation/completion.
  • Compile data from reports and inputs into a spreadsheet format for presentation to committees utilizing Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint as appropriate.
  • Effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors, and potential risks in the facility.
  • Coordinate committees and/or meetings including scheduling, creating agendas, taking & transcribing minutes, providing reminder calls, etc. and other duties necessary for successful meetings as requested.
  • Support improved outcomes by emphasizing both appropriate behaviors and robust systems that include concise accountability measures and follow-up.
  • Work with facility leaders to ensure thorough, credibly, and timely event management.
  • Work with legal defense counsel to coordinate the investigation, processing, and defense of claims against the facility; records, collects, documents, maintains, and provides to defense attorneys any requested information and documents as necessary to manage facility claims while maintaining privilege of PSWP.
  • Assist the Patient Safety Director with administering the Patient Safety Program on a day to day basis.
  • Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Other duties as assigned
What qualifications you will need:
  • (CPPS) Certified Professional in Patient Safety must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • Current FL RN license or appropriate compact licensure preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a Healthcare related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of related experience is preferred.
