Job Overview

The Patient Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising and managing Patient Accounting operations, including timely billing, resolving account receivables, ensuring positive cash flow, and maintaining high customer satisfaction. The role involves defining departmental objectives, managing billing and follow-up processes, ensuring compliance with third-party payer regulations, and working with hospital resources to improve key revenue cycle indicators.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in finance or accounting; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of eight years of healthcare financial management experience, with at least five years in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities
  • Manage supervisors and staff involved in collection and adjudication processes, monitoring billing, collections, and accounting activities to ensure positive cash flow and target receivable ages.
  • Analyze denials, identify trends, and implement process improvements working with ancillary departments.
  • Review adjustments and controlled write-offs accurately, working with payers and departments to find solutions.
  • Monitor staff activities to ensure timely and accurate problem resolution from payers, patients, and hospital departments.
  • Analyze departmental productivity and employee performance, using statistical indicators to identify opportunities for development.
  • Maintain contact with third-party payers and patients to resolve issues and stay updated on reimbursement policies for compliance and expedited payments.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures for the Patient Financial Services (PFS) area, and participate in policy development for other hospital areas affecting patient accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Director to set and achieve short-term goals for collection and billing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Range

$63,400 - $91,900
