ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

The Patient Access Manager functions as a subject matter expert for the enterprise and manages a seamless referral process for external providers to provide a high level of customer service to ensure Vidant Health is competitive in the marketplace. Maintains appropriate staffing levels to manage the growth/volume of the referrals received by the organization: to ensure all workflows are in place & seamless so that each request is processed and scheduled in a timely fashion. The Patient Access Manager is responsible to achieve service standards and turnaround times for external customers and to maintain/develop metrics and dashboards to monitor and report out on performance.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Three to four years related experience
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management, Public Health Administration or Health Information Management.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage, teach, make independent decisions and assume responsibility.
  4. Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written.
  5. Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff.
  6. Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  7. Futuristic approach to the development of programs/systems that support continuous quality improvement and Mission, Vision, and Values.
  8. Ability to function as a leader, team member and execute the desired outcomes.
  9. Must exhibit creative, positive problem-solving abilities.
  10. Ability to foster collaboration between multiple parties.
  11. Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups.
  12. Ability to think conceptually and apply concepts in a practical application.
  13. Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and determine a course of action.
  14. Ability to consider diverse opinions and incorporate them into the decision-making process.
  15. Proven track record of implementing organization-wide projects.
  16. Commitment to a high standard of customer service.
  17. Excellent budget and financial management skills.
