Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee departmental operations of the Laboratory and ensure safe, compliant point of care testing across affiliated offsite areas. The role requires coordination with nursing, administrative and medical staff to uphold patient care standards.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Medical Technology (or related field), with 5 years of clinical experience including 2 years in supervision, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a closely related field is required
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is preferred
• 5 years of clinical experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in an acute care hospital
• Certification in medical technology and MT/ASCP/AMT/AAB required for Laboratory management; histology certifications for Anatomic Pathology management are required

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required

Work Experience

• 5 years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an acute care hospital setting is Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
• Management of Anatomic Pathology (Cytology/Histology): Certification in histology; certification as a Histotechnologist HTL, Histotechnician HT and/or Cytologist CT by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Required
