Job summary

Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School (APR) seeks a Manager of Student Support to lead programmatic compliance and equity work for Special Education and Multilingual Learner programs.   • Ensure equitable access to programming through data analysis and planning.
  • Coordinate and monitor accommodations for assessments (MCAS, i-Ready, AP testing, ACCESS).
  • Create and maintain digital data management systems for special populations.

About the Position

The Academy of the Pacific Rim seeks a Manager of Student Support (MSS) to lead the organization’s programmatic compliance and equity work for both APR’s Special Education and Multilingual Learner programs. This role will serve as a steward for the vision of Special Education and English Language Education at APR and will effectively manage across essential programming components and key stakeholders to ensure that this vision is realized.

The role will report to the Managing Director of Student Support and work closely with the Special Education and English Language Education teams. This role is for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has strong time and task management skills.

This is a full-time, hybrid position with approximately 4 days a week at APR’s campus in Hyde Park, MA, and 1 day a week spent working remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of Special Education and Multilingual Learner Compliance.
    • Schedule and facilitate all special education and English language education meetings.
    • Write all IEPs for annual, initial, and re-evaluation meetings.
    • Collaborate with school based leadership teams, teachers and related service providers, to manage activities relating to compliance with all state and federal English Language Education regulations:
      • Providing initial and annual notifications to families.
      • Ensuring all ELE files are up to date per DESE guidelines.
    • Process referrals for and chair all original, re-evaluation, and emergency placement team meetings; support in the development of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for these students, including transition for students with disabilities beginning at age 14; secure parent signatures for these plans.
    • Plan and conduct Manifestation Determination Review Hearings as needed.
    • Reviews IEP files for compliance pertaining to state & federal special education laws & internal procedures.
  • Facilitate Impactful Adult Learning Experiences.
    • Train school leaders as needed on data management systems related to special populations.
  • Ensure equitable access to educational programming through data analysis and planning.
    • Coordinate, track, and monitor accurate accommodations that are provided to all SWDs and MLLs for all summative and formative assessments (MCAS, i-Ready, AP testing, ACCESS testing, etc).
    • Collaborate directly with the Director of Student Support to ensure compliant Multilingual Learner and Special Education service delivery.
  • Create and maintain effective data management systems for special populations.
    • Organizes, processes, updates, and inputs special education information into internal systems spreadsheets, online platforms, and physical files.
    • Create and implement a digital management system for multilingual learner compliance and data management systems.
    • Manage online & paper student records, inputs new student information, & responds to requests from outside districts.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for newly enrolled SWDs and MLLs.
