Job summary

Comlux America in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Manager of Quality Assurance to lead daily QA, QC, and regulatory compliance for aircraft completion and maintenance. Reports to Director of Quality & Safety Assurance, ensuring AS9100, 14 CFR Part 145, FAA/EASA compliance and strong corrective actions.

The role partners with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Operations to mitigate risks, improve processes, and foster a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Quality Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5–7 years in aviation maintenance, MRO, or a related regulated environment.
  • 2–3 years in quality leadership roles with audits and improvements.
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145, AS9100, FAA/EASA requirements.
  • Experience with quality records, inspections, and regulatory docs.
  • FAA A&P license preferred.

Role Description

The Manager of QualityAssurance is responsible for managing and administering day-to-day qualityassurance, quality control, and regulatory compliance supporting ComluxAmerica’s aircraft completion, maintenance, modification, fabrication, andrepair operations. Working under thedirection of the Director of Quality & Safety Assurance, this positionimplements and monitors quality programs in accordance with 14 CFR Part 145,AS9100, applicable FAA and EASA requirements, company procedures, and customerrequirements.

The Manager of QualityAssurance serves as a key operational resource for Quality, Production,Engineering, Maintenance, and other functional teams by identifying compliance risks,supporting inspections and audits, managing corrective actions, and promotingconsistent adherence to established quality standards. The position providesday-to-day leadership to quality activities while escalating significantregulatory, quality, and operational concerns to the Director of Quality &Safety Assurance.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage andcoordinate day-to-day Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities acrossaircraft completion, maintenance, modification, fabrication, and repairoperations.
  • Implement andadminister quality policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Monitorcompliance with 14 CFR Part 145, AS9100, applicable FAA and EASA requirements,company procedures, and customer quality requirements.
  • Support themaintenance and effectiveness of the AS9100 Quality Management System,including internal audits, corrective actions, process monitoring, andcontinuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate andmonitor preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspections to ensureinspections are properly performed, documented, and completed in accordancewith approved procedures.
  • Provideday-to-day leadership and direction to Quality personnel, including workloadplanning, performance expectations, training, development, and accountability.
  • Monitor qualityperformance metrics and identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunitiesfor improvement.
  • Conduct andsupport internal audits, compliance reviews, process audits, and operationalinspections to identify areas of risk or nonconformance.
  • Assist withexternal audits, customer audits, FAA surveillance, and other regulatory orcertification activities by coordinating personnel, documentation, records, andcorrective actions.
  • Maintain accurateand current quality records and ensure required documentation is completed inaccordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support themaintenance and revision of controlled quality and repair stationdocumentation, including the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality ControlManual (QCM), procedures, forms, and related documentation.
  • Assist inensuring technical data used for aircraft maintenance, repair, and modificationactivities is current, properly controlled, and accessible to applicablepersonnel.
  • Reviewnonconformances, inspection findings, audit findings, incidents, and otherquality or events and coordinate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track correctiveactions to completion and verify that actions are appropriately documented andeffective.
  • Supportinvestigations of accidents, incidents, injuries, quality escapes, and otheroperational events and assist in identifying root causes and appropriatecorrective actions.
  • Identifyoperational hazards and quality risks and work with functional leaders toimplement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Partner withEngineering, Production, Maintenance, Operations, and other functional teams toresolve quality and compliance issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide guidanceto employees and leaders regarding quality standards, regulatory requirements,inspection requirements, and company policies.
  • Support qualitytraining initiatives and assist in identifying training needs based on auditfindings, incidents, process changes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintainawareness of applicable aviation regulations, airworthiness requirements,technical data, and industry standards relevant to Comlux operations.
  • Assist withmaintaining the technical publications library and ensuring applicabletechnical information is available to personnel performing maintenance andmodification activities.
  • Support thedevelopment and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives designedto improve quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Preparepresentations, metrics, and other management information for review by theDirector of Quality & Safety and senior leadership.
  • Promote a cultureof accountability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement throughoutthe organization.
  • Escalatesignificant regulatory, quality, customer, or operational concerns in a timelymanner.
  • Perform otherduties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications,Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degreein Aviation Maintenance, Quality Management, Engineering, Business, or arelated field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may beconsidered.
  • Minimum of 5–7years of experience in aviation maintenance, aircraft completions, MRO,manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, or a related regulatedenvironment.
  • Minimum of 2–3years of experience in a quality, inspection, or operational leadership role.
  • Working knowledgeof 14 CFR Part 145 repair station operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledgeof AS9100 Quality Management Systems and quality assurance principles.
  • Working knowledgeof FAA and EASA requirements applicable to aircraft maintenance, modification,and completion operations.
  • Experiencesupporting internal and external audits, corrective actions, compliancereviews, or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experienceworking with quality records, inspection documentation, controlled procedures,and regulatory documentation.
  • FAA Airframe& Powerplant (A&P) License preferred.
  • Ability to read,write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Experience withaviation maintenance management, quality management, ERP, or related systemssuch as Corridor, CMP, CAMP, or similar platforms.

Work Environment
  • Work is primarilyin an office environment but will regularly work in aircraft hangars,workshops, production areas, and supplier facilities.
  • The positionrequires interaction with employees, management, customers, suppliers,auditors, and regulatory representatives. Travel to supplier and customerlocations may be required.
  • Work is sometimesperformed in an aircraft maintenance and completion environment, includingaircraft hangars, shops, and production areas.
  • May requirestanding, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and working in confined orelevated areas for extended periods.
  • Must be able tosafely use required inspection tools, equipment, and personal protectiveequipment.
  • Must be able towork in varying environmental conditions associated with aircraft maintenanceoperations.
