Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field.
  • Three years’ organ operations experience, preferably in organ procurement and/or transplantation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee organ allocation and utilization processes, ensuring compliance with LifeGift and OPTN policies.
  • Manage staffing, triage for organ referrals and import offers, and supervise transportation logistics for recovered organs.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with transplant partners to optimize performance metrics.
  • Supervise and participate in training and orientation of Organ Placement Specialists, providing feedback and mentoring.
  • Participate in operational meetings, facilitating communication between leadership and clinical staff.
  • Ensure regulatory and quality compliance through education and adherence to organ donation standards.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Do you possess the attributes to be a successful Manager of Organ Utilization and perform the following essential functions?

The Manager of Organ Utilization leads the organ allocation and utilization process, ensuring effective placement of organs for transplantation and research, while managing transportation logistics. Reporting to the Director of Organ Operations and Surgical Recovery, this role emphasizes regulatory compliance, quality management, and personnel oversight. The manager collaborates closely with transplant partners, supervises the Organ Placement Specialists, and promotes professional development within the team. Additionally, this role requires expertise in Organ Procurement and Transplant Network (OPTN) policies, critical decision‑making, and fostering relationships that enhance organ donation outcomes. Key competencies include leadership, integrity, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.

THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE

Do you have the education and experience to be a Manager of Organ Utilization?

  1. 1. Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field with biology/pre‑med coursework or allied health work experience; required.
  2. 2. Three years’ minimum of organ operations experience, preferably in organ procurement and/or transplantation.
  3. 3. Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
