Job summary

CAP Northwest in Portland seeks a seasoned Manager of Events & Corporate Sponsorships to lead the planning and execution of signature fundraising events, including the Art Auction, AIDS Walk Northwest, and Dining Out for Life. You will develop sponsorship strategies, manage budgets, and align events with inclusive community priorities.

This full-time role requires delivering revenue goals, coordinating vendors and volunteers, traveling across the Portland metro, and occasional evening/weekend

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of leadership in events planning.
  • Experience planning events grossing $500k or more.
  • Sponsorship solicitation and management of partner benefits.
  • Budget creation and rigorous budgeting.
  • Plan an Events Model for a nonprofit agency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of CAP Northwest’s signature fundraising events, managing strategy, timelines, logistics, internal coordination, vendors, and execution.
  • Develop and manage corporate sponsorship strategies and relationships for agency events and priorities, including prospecting and renewals.
  • Establish and manage event revenue goals, budgets, forecasting, expense management, and net fundraising strategies.
  • Serve as the primary project manager for major events, coordinating workplans and stakeholders to stay on schedule and within scope.
  • Guide the ongoing evolution of CAP Northwest’s fundraising portfolio to stay relevant, inclusive, and mission-aligned.
  • Manage external event relationships and production partners, including venues, contractors, and vendors.

CAP Northwest (Cascade AIDS Project) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington that provides the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. As the Manager of Events & Corporate Sponsorships (MECS) for CAP Northwest, you will plan, manage, and execute a diverse range of revenue-generating events designed to engage donors and promote awareness of our mission: to advance compassionate, whole-person care for LGBTQ+ people and those impacted by HIV. The primary events in FY27 are the CAP Art Auction, AIDS Walk Northwest, and Dining Out for Life, among other community engagement touchpoints. The MECS is part of the CAP Northwest Advancement Team, which focuses on community engagement, events, and donor investment, and includes the Senior Director of Advancement, Individual Giving Manager, Advancement Systems Manager, and Community Engagement Manager.As a member of the leadership team, this role plays a pivotal part in our collective fundraising efforts, contributing to the organization's combined event fundraising goal exceeding $1.35 million for FY27.This is a full-time position based at our Davis St. location in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood. While the primary work location will be Davis St., this role will also require regular travel throughout the Portland Metro area. The typical weekday schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, the position also requires regular evening and weekend work to support events and other program needs. The schedule may vary based on event and organizational requirements.The yearly salary for this position is a range of $80,000-$85,000 depending on experience.1st Round interviews will be held on October 6th and October 8thWho You AreFive or more years’ experience in each of the following areas:Proven leadership in the planning and execution of events grossing $500,000 or more.Executing a wide variety of event modalities including galas, outdoor events, small fundraisers, etc.Soliciting corporate sponsorships and managing partner benefitsLeading the creation and rigorous management of event budgetsPlanning an Events Model for a Non-Profit Agency to ensure service to the full community.Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Experience managing projects in a management tool like Asana.Excellent relationship-building skills with both external partners and internal colleagues.Demonstrated success working with populations across multi-dimensional diversity (race, religion, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran, and other protected groups)Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Driver’s License.What You’ll DoLead the planning and execution of CAP Northwest’s signature fundraising events, managing event strategy, timelines, logistics, internal coordination, vendors, and implementation from concept through completion.Develop and manage corporate sponsorship strategies and relationships for agency events and organizational priorities, including prospecting, solicitation, proposal development, negotiation, fulfillment, stewardship, renewal, and growth of corporate support.Establish and manage event revenue goals, budgets, and financial performance in partnership with Advancement leadership, including forecasting, expense management, reconciliation, and strategies to maximize net fundraising revenue.Serve as the primary project manager for major events, developing comprehensive workplans, coordinating stakeholders and deliverables, leading planning meetings, and ensuring projects remain on schedule, within scope, and within budget.Guide the ongoing vision and evolution of CAP Northwest’s fundraising event portfolio, ensuring events remain relevant, inclusive, mission-aligned, and responsive to diverse communities and audiences while identifying new event concepts, partnerships, and opportunities to diversify and grow revenue.Manage external event relationships and production partners, including venues, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other partners; oversee contracting, service delivery, and fulfillment of organizational commitments.At CAP Northwest, we believe in unlocking potential.
