Job summary

Imagination Station, Toledo’s Science Center, invites applications for a Manager of Educator Programs to lead the Education team in advancing STEAM initiatives and formal partnerships with local schools. Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Education preferred.
  • Background or interest in STEAM preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Ohio and Michigan learning standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and efficient in time management.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, creativity and flexibility.
  • Comfortable presenting science curriculum to students and adults.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Ohio Invention League and Invention Convention programming for the Northwest Ohio region.
  • Build new and expand partnerships with teachers, schools, and school districts.
  • Develop and deliver teacher professional developments for revenue generating and grant funded projects.
  • Lead Imagination Station’s Educator Advisory Committee.
  • Manage grant funded projects, such as Engineering for Confidence.
  • Participate in local schools’ advisory committees.
  • Train part-time team as needed.
  • Ensure programs delivered on time meeting high content delivery standards.
  • Meet revenue goals related to program delivery and partnership development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Manager of Educator Programs

Imagination Station, Toledo’s Science Center is the region’s resource in interactive Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) education. We offer a mind‑on‑body‑on, hands on experience with hundreds of interactive exhibits, activities and demonstrations that teach vital science concepts. The science center is a hub of learning that provides the tools necessary to thrive in the 21st century and that shapes future scientists and innovators. We represent the idea that the sciences are more than theorems or formulas on a page but are powerful concepts that can allow a wide-eyed child to ride a bike across a high wire and learn about where they get their energy.

Description

The Manager of Educator Programs is a key position on the Education team that supports the science center’s strategic goal of establishing Imagination Station as a STEAM education expert in innovation and collaboration. This position actively works to generate and sustain partnerships with school districts and educators. The Manager of Educator Programs should be comfortable developing curriculum, delivering to a variety of audiences and training teams to do the same. This position reports to the Director of Education.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Ohio Invention League and Invention Convention programming for the Northwest Ohio region.

  • Works within the Education Department to develop and deliver teacher professional developments for both revenue generating and grant funded projects.
  • Takes a leadership role in Imagination Station’s Educator Advisory Committee.
  • Manage grant funded projects, such as Engineering for Confidence.
  • Actively participate in local schools’ advisory committees.
  • Train part-time team as needed.
  • Ensure that programs are delivered on time in a fashion that meets or exceeds Imagination Station’s high standards for content delivery.
  • Meet revenue goals related to program delivery and partnership development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in Education is preferred, or related experience in education, science, or museum studies.
  • Background or interest in STEAM is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Ohio and Michigan learning standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and efficient in time management.
  • Self‑starter who demonstrates initiative, creativity and flexibility while efficiently working with others.
  • Comfortable presenting science curriculum to students and adults.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record and be capable of operating the Imagination Station owned vehicles for program purposes.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to provide occasional transportation to events within the Toledo area.
