Job Summary

The Manager of Curriculum Development leads the college’s curriculum development infrastructure, providing coordination, expertise, project management, and continuous improvement for the design, revision, review, approval, implementation, and maintenance of academic curriculum. The Manager serves as a key connector between faculty, instructional administrators, academic operations, assessment and institutional leadership. This position is designed as an innovative curriculum systems role, using technology, data, workflow automation, artificial intelligence, and process improvement to make curriculum development faster, clearer, more transparent, and more responsive to student, transfer, workforce, and institutional needs. The Manager ensures that curriculum ideas move efficiently from concept to approval to implementation.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Academic Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in higher education, preferably within Academic Affairs, curriculum design and development, academic operations, or a related area
  • Experience collaborating with faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to enhance teaching, learning, and student success through a variety of instructional and academic support approaches
  • Demonstrated success with program or curriculum development
  • Demonstrated ability to organize multiple projects and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally, diplomatically, and confidentially with diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Community college experience
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and continuous improvement practices
  • Experience with guided pathways, program mapping, stackable credentials, or workforce education

Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Work Hours

Monday-Friday, 8-5pm

Salary

Pay range is $32.63-$52.42 per hour

Job Duties
  • Lead the college-wide curriculum development, revision, review, approval, implementation, and inactivation processes.
  • Develop and maintain a modernized comprehensive curriculum management strategy aligned with the college strategic plan, workforce needs, transfer opportunities, accreditation expectations, and student success goals.
  • Serves as the primary project manager while collaborating with curriculm designers, faculty, staff, and appropriate stakeholders, ensuring best practices are applied during curriculum proposals and projects, ensuring clear milestones, owners, timelines, and communication.
  • Support development of stackable credentials, certificates, degrees, embedded credentials, accelerated pathways, and other innovative academic models.
  • Ensure curriculum is designed around clear academic pathways, including prerequisite sequencing, alternative completion pathways, transfer pathways, and completion milestones.
  • Provide faculty and academic administrators with templates, tools, guidance, and consultation throughout the curriculum development process.
  • Receive, review, triage, and assign curriculum requests; coordinate collection and review of required proposal documentation and supporting data.
  • Manage curriculum project plans and monitor proposal progress to ensure clear scope, milestones, owners, timelines, documentation, and approval readiness.
  • Maintain the curriculum handbook and the master curriculum calendar aligned with curriculum committee meetings, catalog deadlines, implementation timelines, etc.
  • Prepare curriculum committee agendas, proposal packets, decision records, and follow-up documentation as assigned.
  • Track curriculum changes from concept through implementation while maintaining accurate records, approvals, timelines, and related documentation.
  • Advance continuous improvement of curriculum workflows through process review, targeted training, and processes that reduce time from concept to implementation.
  • Serve as the primary functional resource for curriculum management technology and related academic workflow systems.
  • Identify opportunities to use data and technology to make curriculum decisions more timely, agile, transparent, and student-centered.
  • Manages and takes initiative on projects capitalizing on professional instructional and curricular design expertise to facilitate program, course, and institutional level curriculum design, including the development of appropriate assessments within established timelines.
  • Ensures alignment of curriculum and assessment products and activities with taxonomy, external and internal standards, policies and practices, including departmental, institutional, local, state and federal requirements.
