Job summary

Sartorius in Ashland, MA is seeking an experienced operations leader for Cultureware Production and facility management in a regulated biotech setting. The role blends hands-on production with systemwide oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

You will lead schedules, manage materials and equipment, mentor staff, and drive continuous improvement across HVAC, labs, and support infrastructure, while upholding Quality Control and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Life Sciences, Operations, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of Cultureware Production and Facilities Operations experience in a regulated setting.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Cultureware Production operations and define production schedules with cost, quality, and time targets.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and maintenance of production machinery.
  • Train, mentor, and support staff to ensure safe, compliant operations.
  • Manage facility systems (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical) per Quality Control guidelines.
  • Coordinate build-out and repurposing of laboratory space for evolving objectives.
  • Serve as Vice Chairman of Safety Committee and enforce Hazard Communication policies to OSHA standards.
  • Conduct annual fire safety training and maintain eye wash stations and safety showers.
  • Reduce operating costs by optimizing contractor use and promoting in-house repairs.

Job description

This role combines operational leadership with hands‑on responsibility for Cultureware Production and facility operations within a regulated biotech environment. The position plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective production conditions while continuously developing people, processes, and infrastructure in support of better health solutions.

Location: This is an onsite role in our Asland, MA office.

What You Will Accomplish Together with Us:
  • Lead daily Cultureware Production operations and define production schedules aligned with cost, quality, and time targets
  • Oversee procurement of raw materials, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and maintenance of production machinery
  • Train, mentor, and support staff members to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations
  • Manage and maintain Bio‑Tech and manufacturing facility systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical infrastructure, and laboratory equipment, in compliance with strict Quality Control guidelines
  • Coordinate build‑out and repurposing of laboratory space to support evolving company objectives
  • Serve as Vice Chairman of the Safety Committee, including instituting a Hazard Communication Policy and identifying and correcting safety deficiencies to OSHA standards
  • Conduct annual fire safety training and manage eye wash stations and safety showers across the facility
  • Reduce facility operating costs by optimizing contractor usage, performing repairs inhouse where appropriate, and promoting proper equipment use to minimize downtime
