Job summary

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Manager of Annual Giving for our partner, a mission-driven educational institution, 100% onsite in Fork Union, Virginia. The role leads a comprehensive annual giving program during an organizational transition and manages donor relationships across individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.

This full-time, temporary/fixed-term assignment offers $30.00-$32.00 per hour with a 40-hour workweek and potential longer-term employment,

Qualifications

  • Fundraising and annual giving experience.
  • Proven donor relations and portfolio management skills.
  • Grant writing/management knowledge preferred.

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Manager of Annual Giving for our partner, a mission-driven educational institution with a longstanding commitment to student development, leadership, and academic opportunity. This is a full-time, temporary/fixed-term position with potential for longer-term opportunity and is 100% onsite in Fork Union, Virginia.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager of Annual Giving will provide important continuity to the Development function while leading the execution of a comprehensive annual giving program during an organizational transition. This role will manage donor relationships and fundraising initiatives across individual giving, foundations, corporate partners, scholarships, student access, and grant funding while supporting an ambitious FY27 fundraising goal. Working closely with senior leadership and colleagues across Development, Communications, and Finance, this individual will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact while strengthening donor engagement and philanthropic support.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute annual giving strategies focused on donor retention, acquisition, increased giving, and progress toward the organization's FY27 fundraising objectives.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, follow-up, and stewardship while maintaining a strong pipeline of prospective supporters.
  • Develop fundraising opportunities across unrestricted giving, student access, scholarships, foundations, corporate partners, and other institutional priorities.
  • Research grant opportunities and manage the grant lifecycle, including letters of inquiry, proposals, applications, supporting materials, reporting, and renewals.
  • Coordinate annual appeals, targeted solicitations, donor communications, stewardship initiatives, and fundraising activities in partnership with Development, Communications, and senior leadership.
  • Maintain accurate donor and fundraising records, monitor performance and pipeline activity, and collaborate with Finance on gift reconciliation, restrictions, grant compliance, and donor reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, development, annual giving, donor relations, or a closely related area.
  • Experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors, with the ability to independently manage donor relationships and fundraising initiatives.
  • Knowledge of foundation and/or corporate fundraising, with grant writing and grant management experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, relationship-building, organizational, and project-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, maintain discretion with donor information, and work fully onsite in Fork Union, Virginia.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This full-time opportunity offers compensation of $30.00-$32.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, for a 40-hour workweek. This is a temporary/fixed-term assignment with the potential for longer-term or permanent employment depending on organizational needs and performance. The position is 100% onsite in Fork Union, Virginia, and may include occasional evening or weekend responsibilities and limited travel related to donor meetings, fundraising initiatives, alumni activities, or organizational events.
