Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, and Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

In this role you will lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Planners who are developing and supporting the design and fabrication of New Glenn’s composite products. You will share in the team’s impact on the industry by shaping New Glenn’s composites fabrication strategy. This role will require you to demonstrate your ability to interact with the vehicle to proactively improve design for manufacturability, eliminate barriers and solve unforeseen technical problems.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Enable the success of a team comprised of hard-working Manufacturing Engineers and Planners, providing mentoring, guidance, and support to all team members.
  • Perform capacity analysis, evaluate staffing requirements, and hire strong candidates to build a team consistent with our leadership principles.
  • Apply robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and processes to ensure the highest quality of manufacturing engineering.
  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire fabrication process.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and drive manufacturability into designs.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Maintain hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the build and test process.
  • Perform and lead others in the development of specific project plans, managing risks, tracking, reporting on status, and resolving blocking issues.
  • Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and resolve technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field or equivalent
  • Experience with launch vehicle, spacecraft, satellite, and/or aircraft manufacturing environments.
  • 5+ years of related combined experience in manufacturing engineering, people leadership, or project management/program management roles at different levels within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with mentoring engineers in the areas of career development, technical skills, and project management.
  • Previous experience in a product leadership role with significant technical project management responsibility and proven technical depth.
  • Experience leading product and people through various product lifecycle stages including concept, development, and production.
  • Extreme customer-focus with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:
