The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific position. The MSL’s key objective is to impact clinical practice within the assigned territory to improve patient outcomes. The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage, and develop their territory, and execute activities aligned with the medical strategic and tactical plan, while adhering to Novartis policies and ethical standards. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights and understanding their strategic implications.
This territory covers Pennsylvania (excluding Philadelphia). The preferred location for the candidate is near a major airport; residence within 50 miles of the territory border is required. Relocation is not available.
Additional responsibilities include supporting clinical trials, collaborating with internal teams, maintaining in-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and company products, ensuring compliance with policies, executing administrative duties, and proactively addressing evolving territory needs.
The salary range at start is approximately $145,600 - $270,400 annually, depending on experience, location, and other factors. The total package may include bonuses, stock, benefits, and more. Final pay is at the company's discretion.
Qualifications include a graduate degree in science or healthcare (MD, PhD, PharmD, etc.), with 0-3 years of relevant experience or 3-5 years in medical affairs or clinical research preferred. Strong clinical knowledge, adherence to regulations, and field-based work with travel are required. The role covers Pennsylvania (excluding Philadelphia), with travel estimated at 60-70%.
