Job summary

SPX Technologies is opening a new campus facility and seeks a Materials Manager to oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of materials for the Ingenia portion of the organization. You will manage inventory, coordinate with suppliers, and sign purchase orders to support production.

Reporting to the Ingenia Plant Manager, you will train operations staff, track inventory flow, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations while leading a small team.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in inventory management systems.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor).
  • Experience in greenfield or brownfield start-ups.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in supply chain disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inventory management to ensure materials are available when needed while minimizing waste.
  • Manage procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment for production.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to balance cost and quality.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers for favorable terms.
  • Plan inventory levels and manage stock to meet production needs.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound materials and align with production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all material handling.
  • Lead and develop the materials management team to foster continuous improvement.

How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)

As the material manager on this campus, you will be responsible to oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring efficient inventory management and supplier relationships to support production for the Ingenia portion of the organization. This position is tactical in nature and involves tasks like inventory management, procurement, supplier relations and logistics coordination. Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment. Reporting into the Ingenia Plant Manager and Site Leader, this position is also responsible for training operations staff, signing purchase orders and tracking the flow of inventory through the company’s supply chain.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)
  • Inventory management :
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure that materials are available when needed while avoiding excess stock that could lead to waste.
  • Approximate value of inventory under management will be $30M.
  • Procurement :
  • Procure materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for production
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to acquire materials at optimal costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Plan inventory levels and manage stock levels to ensure materials are available when needed
  • Approximate value of annual purchase is $100M.
  • Supplier relations :
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Logistics Coordination :
  • Oversee the logistics of incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring alignment with production schedules and operational needs.
  • Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • This position supports both onsite businesses by managing the shipping and receiving staff.
  • Compliance :
  • Ensure all material management activities comply with industry standards and regulations, including environmental laws.
  • Team management :
  • Lead and develop the materials management team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.
