Job description

The Manager, Marketing is responsible for executing the marketing strategies across Joint Venture’s slate of films.

This role requires you to think beyond conventional marketing playbooks and create pathways to engage audiences directly. You’ll obsess over what makes audiences tick – their interests, their identities, and their behaviors – and build bespoke marketing campaigns that transform those insights into viewership and fandom.

The ideal candidate is a digitally native and culturally savvy storyteller, with a strong aesthetic eye, excellent writing skills, and deep knowledge of traditional and emerging marketing channels.

We’re looking for people who are passionate, curious, and relentless, and who thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Chief Creative Officer, shaping how Joint Venture connects culture-defining films to their audiences.

  • Set campaign KPIs for each release, and track and report reach, engagement, conversion, and return on spend
  • Decode data into actionable insights and specific recommendations to optimize creative, audience targeting, and media spend in real time
  • Deliver post-campaign reports and contribute to release post-mortems with the Chief of Staff, so learnings carry into future campaigns
  • Support acquisitions by developing marketing concepts and cost estimates for target titles
Marketing Assets
  • Own the creation, delivery, and management of all marketing assets for each film, including trailers, posters, key art, stills, clips, featurettes, EPKs, social content, press materials, discussion guides, in-venue displays, and merchandise
  • Shape the marketing campaign and specific assets across every stage of release – theatrical, events, digital, physical media, and awards
  • Develop original content and concepts that transcend traditional promotional materials, created in partnership with filmmakers, talent, and audiences
  • Write clear creative briefs for vendors and partners, and manage the feedback process on cuts, design, key art, and copy
  • Hire and manage a bench of creative vendors such as trailer houses, editors, designers, and freelancers
  • Run the review and approval process with Joint Venture stakeholders and filmmakers
  • Build and manage the asset schedule and budget for each release, and make sure every deliverable meets exhibitor, platform, and partner specs
  • Route materials through legal, guild, and MPA review, and confirm clearances
  • Produce partner assets and toolkits
  • Maintain the company’s library of marketing assets, and manage delivery of assets and metadata to distribution partners

  • Manage Joint Venture's and each film's social accounts, including industry-specific channels such as IMDb and Letterboxd
  • Deploy and manage film websites, working closely with web designer
  • Deploy direct-to-audience communications via newsletter and other channels
Media
  • Create and manage the release calendar for marketing materials and organic social posts to amplify press and maximize social pickup
  • Set the paid media strategy for each release – channels, targeting, timing, and budget – and execute it directly or with media agencies
  • Set and execute the earned media strategy for each release, in coordination with publicists
  • Plan paid and organic activity together so each amplifies the other
  • Manage campaigns day to day across social, search, online video, AI chatbotsand other platforms, and optimize creative and spend based on performance
  • Run paid creator and influencer partnerships that fit each film's audience
  • Identify, vet, hire, and manage media vendors and platforms
