BDO USA is seeking a TRS Manager to lead a team of TRS Staff in business restructuring and bankruptcy-related engagements, including due diligence and litigation support. The role involves collaboration with Senior Leaders, growth through marketing and networking, and overseeing engagement execution.

Ideal candidates bring extensive restructuring experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to develop financial models and supervise staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required.
• MBA or other relevant advanced degree beneficial.
• Six (6) years of prior experience in business restructuring or related consulting services required.
• One to two years of management experience preferred.
• CPA and CTP certifications beneficial.
• CIRA designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with Principals, MDs, Directors and Senior Managers.
• Assist pitch team in preparing responses to inquiries and proposals.
• Conduct conflict checks and assist in engagement letters and retention agreements.
• Lead and supervise TRS staff on engagements and provide performance feedback.
• Develop financial models including integrated P&L with balance sheets and cash flows.

The TRS Manager also assists with marketing, networking and business development activities for the TRS Group, including proposal preparation.

Job Duties

Bankruptcy & Restructuring Services

• Marketing and New Business Development Activities:
• Assists Principals, Managing Directors, Directors and Senior Managers in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
• Assists BDO pitch team in preparing for new business opportunities and responding to inquiries
• Contacts creditors, lawyers, bankers and internal BDO contacts to pursue new business opportunities (creditor committee, debtor, litigation, etc.)
• Prepares majority of pitch book for new business opportunity, including cover letter and assist in conflict check process.
• Conducts and clears conflict checks and prepares draft retention affidavits or engagement letters; ensures compliance with all other court filing requirements
• Begins to build network of contacts in the industry (lawyers, bankers, PE firms, creditors, etc.)
• Cross-sells other BDO services (corporate finance, valuation, tax, due diligence, litigation, assurance, etc.)
• Engagement Project Leadership:
• Assists engagement director or principal in executing engagement
• Presents BDO work product to counsel or client and responds to questions
• Interacts with counsel or company management on complex operational, restructuring or bankruptcy issues
• Possesses strong financial restructuring and bankruptcy technical skills, including ability to identify bankruptcy or financial restructuring related issues
• Possesses strong ability to analyze cash flow projections and identify issues
• Evaluates management to determine ability to operate and reorganize business operations
• Assists with the preparation and/or ensures the disclosure statement and reorganization plan meet all required financial and bankruptcy requirements
• Reviews reorganization/liquidation plan, evaluate plans for client and identifies issues
• Evaluates alternative courses of action and potential solutions to achieve best result for client
• Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises the day-to-day workload of TRS Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements; reviews work product, provides timely performance reviews and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance staff professional development
• Provides on-the-job training for all TRS Senior Associates and Associates on each engagement
• Acts as Career Advisor to TRS Senior Associates and Associates, as appropriate

Education

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required
• MBA or other relevant advanced degree beneficial

Experience

• Six (6) years of prior experience performing business restructuring or related consulting services required
• Prior experience working within a national public accounting firm or consulting organization preferred
• One to two years of management experience preferred

License/Certifications

• CIRA designation preferred
• CPA and CTP certifications beneficial

Software

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• Ability to effectively managing staff and delegate work assignments as needed
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
• Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
• Management presence and ability to act as key contact on assigned engagements, while timely keeping Directors and Principals informed of progress
• Ability to develop financial models, especially integrated P&L with balance sheets and cash flows
• Solid knowledge of debt and lease restructuring, cash flow and balance sheets, along with liquidation analysis
• Solid knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency process

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $135,000 - $160,000

Maryland Range: $135,000 - $160,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $135,000 - $160,000
