Job summary

Beyond Meat is seeking a Manager, Maintenance & Engineering in Devault, PA to lead daily maintenance activities and provide technical expertise to optimize plant efficiency. This role drives safety, quality, and operational performance while supporting capital projects and ensuring resources align with production goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or technical degree or equivalent
  • 5-8 years of engineering leadership in FMCG/manufacturing
  • Experience in project management, facilities management or process engineering
  • Strong engineering problem-solving with GMP knowledge
  • Leadership capabilities coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of CMMS, PLCs, AutoCAD and root cause analysis

The Maintenance & Engineering Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as Manager, Maintenance and Engineering. The Manager, Maintenance & Engineering, is responsible for managing and directing the daily maintenance activities of a high-volume, multi-shift facility while providing technical expertise and problem-solving skills to identify and address issues that affect plant efficiency. This role leads site maintenance and engineering initiatives, supports capital projects, and ensures the maintenance and engineering teams have the resources needed to drive safety, quality, and operational performance. The Manager, Maintenance & Engineering ensures facility operations run efficiently and align with production requirements and company objectives. The Manager, Maintenance & Engineering is responsible for supporting the maintenance and engineering teams by ensuring they have the required equipment and tools to efficiently perform their jobs while remaining aligned with budget and company guidelines.

TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute site capital projects and maintenance improvement plans, managing project scope, schedules, and budgets in alignment with business priorities.
  • Support process engineering and equipment layout, integration, and specification services for projects that include a comparative analysis and executive summary for senior management
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and business justifications for leadership approval.
  • Handle multiple daily activities to meet deadlines and develop & track plans on how to accomplish departmental and operational goals
  • Work with site safety department to understand, implement, and audit safety programs
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and good working relationships with leadership
  • Facilitate technical and safety training, as well as help to develop professional development of departmental facilities associates
  • Analyze and plan for installation, project start-up, and commissioning equipment
  • Monitor the progress of construction projects to ensure that they are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and control systems.
  • Work with operations leadership team to set and review daily KPIs
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Use, assign, and track facility work orders and parts using a CMMS system
  • Own and promote an excellent organized and efficient workspace
  • Participate in daily operation and engineering meetings
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated manufacturing systems
  • Provide specific, enriched feedback to enhance individual performance, and provide associates with written performance appraisals.
  • Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Supervisory Duties
  • Lead, manage, and supervise employees, delegate training for all processes within the plant setting
  • Provide mentorship and training to functional team members
  • Accountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coaching.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience: Bachelor's degree or completed technical degree from a trade school and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 5-8 years of engineering leadership experience required (FMCG experience preferred)
  • Technical experience in project management, systems or process engineering, facilities management, or technical discipline engineering in a manufacturing environment with maintenance experience
  • Strong track record of engineering aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles, and problem solving
  • A proven understanding of food processing GMP requirements and procedures.

  • Strong leadership skills, including experience leading others in projects or programs, and the ability to successfully interact with individuals representing other areas or interests and the expertise to manage team leaders and mechanics
  • Other qualifications: Ability to identify potential business solutions involving a broad scope of thinking across businesses and functions to develop new innovations
  • Working knowledge of maintenance management, PLC, Auto-CAD, CMMS’s, and root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and an aptitude for detail and strong organizational abilities a must HVAC and/or Refrigeration knowledge preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas. The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, consistently lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks. Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks. Position located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures. This position will be required to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses. Requires working outside in external temperatures from below freezing to extreme heat, including external weather conditions.

The starting annual base pay for this role starts at $125,000 USD $xxx and $xxx. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
