Job summary

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Manager at our Tupelo/Verona, MS manufacturing plant.

This position will manage and direct the operation of the Maintenance Department in an efficient, safe, and quality focused manner. The successful candidate will lead maintenance operations, minimize downtime through preventive maintenance, and communicate with Division/Plant Managers, supervisors and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in maintenance management in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.
  • Must be able to lead teams, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel.
  • SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all department personnel and assets and generate a profit.
  • Identify and develop capable people with the talent to contribute to the company.
  • Manage and maintain a safe operation as per all company standards and guidelines.
  • Supervises the plant safety systems including fire systems, machine guarding and lighting.
  • Plans and schedules work based on production needs and availability of the machinery.
  • Determine the necessary parts needed to repair equipment.
  • Supervise the ordering and maintaining proper parts inventory.
  • Plan and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Provide accurate reports for labor usage and materials.
  • Plans and schedules for maintenance meetings.
  • Advise Division Manager and Plant Manager of maintenance problems and actions.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors for installation of new equipment and plans for additional space.
  • Ensures policy communication and compliance among maintenance employees.
  • Reviews and approves all maintenance time records daily.

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for Maintenance Manager at ourTupelo/Verona, MSmanufacturing plant. This position will manage and direct the operation of the Maintenance Department in an efficient, safe, and quality focused manner. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading maintenance operations, ensuring that machinery, facilities, and systems are in optimal condition, and minimizing downtime through proactive and preventive maintenance. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic planning.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. As the successful candidate, the Maintenance Manager must have knowledge of safety regulations and standards for maintenance operations and will maintain communication with the Division Manager, Plant Manager, Department Managers and Supervisors, hourly employees and vendors as well as other Carpenter Co Personnel. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all organizational and safety expectations while upholding a high standard of safety and quality. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Additional responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager will include:

  • Manage all the department personnel and assets as well as generate a profit.

  • Responsible for the supervision of the ordering and maintaining proper parts inventory.
  • Plans and implements preventative maintenance programs.
  • Provide accurate reports required for labor usage and the usage of materials and parts used in the repair of equipment.
  • Plans and schedules for maintenance meetings.
  • Advises Division Manager and Plant Manager of maintenance problems and recommends action to correct the problems.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors for the installation of new equipment and plans for additional space in the facility if needed.
  • Ensures that company policy is being communicated to maintenance employees and ensures that they are being followed.
  • Reviews and approves all maintenance employee time records daily.

Skills/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in maintenance management in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.
  • Must be able to lead teams, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
  • Able to delegate duties and responsibilities effectively, as well as to monitor and direct several separate processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and negotiating experience.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
