Job summary

Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years in a high-volume manufacturing environment in engineering/maintenance.
  • 5-9+ years in automotive industry experience.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and plants.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and hold people accountable in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience driving process control, change management, and data-informed decisions.
  • Proficiency with internet and PC-based applications for recording, analyzing, and reporting information.
  • Able to work extended hours during downtime or urgent needs.
  • Willing to assist other YFAI plants and provide resources when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production equipment and related processes.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and qualify a team capable of maintaining all equipment.
  • Coordinate activities of workers in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving issues.
  • Implement predictive and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Schedule and direct maintenance personnel; coordinate training; participate in hiring/termination.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve maintenance problems and improve efficiency.
  • Review reports with Production/Technical Manager and set priorities to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all plant equipment and facilities are properly maintained and safe.
  • Maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs with proper documentation and records.
  • Coordinate inventory to avoid downtime due to parts shortages.
  • Maintain contacts with manufacturers to stay updated on maintenance techniques.
  • Keep facility clean and safe at all times.
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hours to cover assignments and overtime fairly.
  • Recommend equipment modifications or replacements to improve operations and reduce costs.
  • Maintain maintenance tools and shop equipment.
  • Support new equipment launches, review specs, attend design reviews, and approve run-off.
  • Ensure employee safety and OSHA-compliant training; enforce safety rules.

  • Accountable for Maintenance of Production Equipment and some processes.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities requiring adherence to Company policies and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer a group qualified to maintain all equipment.
  • Coordinate activities of workers engaged in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Analyse and resolve work problems, and/or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Execute effective predictive and preventative maintenance program to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Schedule and direct all maintenance personnel. Coordinate maintenance schedules for the most effective use. Coordinate the training of Maintenance Personnel. Participate in hiring, termination and disciplinary action of department personnel.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve maintenance problems and to keep manufacturing equipment operating in an efficient manner.
  • Review various reports and confer as needed with the Production / Technical Manager to review problems and to ensure corrective action also establishes priorities to minimize downtime.
  • Assure maintenance and repairs for all aspects of the plant equipment and facility.
  • Maintains a preventive and predictive maintenance programs on all machinery, equipment, etc., with documentation and records necessary to support the program.
  • Coordinate maintenance department inventory system to be certain adequate supply of material and repair parts are in stock to reduce production downtime due to breakdown of equipment.
  • Maintain contact with manufactures’ representatives to keep abreast of latest developments and techniques in maintenance and repair fields. Ensure department is trained to the latest techniques.
  • Coordinate to ensure the facility is constantly in a clean and safe condition.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments and adequate coverage for production, making sure overtime hours are assigned evenly across the team.
  • Recommend and justify modifications of existing equipment and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Responsible for maintaining maintenance tools and shop equipment.
  • Direct support and involvement of new equipment at Launch, including review and approval of Technical Specifications, attendance at Design Reviews, and Equipment run-off prove out.
  • Responsible for employee safety. Enforce safety compliance by ensuring the proper training is given in OSHA mandated regulations, such as Lock Out/Tag Out, Welding Safety, Electrical Safety, etc. Ensure compliance with company safety rules and regulations.

  • Ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance, arrive to designated location on time, or be at assigned location ready to work for assignment (plant, corporate office, or remote).
Required Qualifications
  • 7-10 Minimum Years of Experience in related field (high volume manufacturing environment) with background in engineering and maintenance of equipment.
  • 5-9 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrate skills in self-organization, planning, prioritizing, follow, delegation, and holding people accountable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate ability of driving process control, change management and the use of data to drive decisions.
  • Proficiency using internet based and PC based computer applications to record, analyse, and report information.
  • Ability to handle extended hours when needed, specifically during equipment downtime or reacting to customer requirements.
  • Willing to help other YFAI plants or provide resources when needed.
