Job Summary

The Manager - Land Administration is responsible for leading the Company's Appalachia Business Unit’s Land Administration function, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of land, lease, ownership, and contractual data supporting operated and non-operated assets with a key deliverable of business accountability for accurate forecasting and reporting. This position oversees lease records, division orders, litigation support, acquisition and divestiture integration, and land administration compliance.

The Manager - Land Administration serves as a strategic partner to Land, Legal, Accounting, Regulatory, GIS, and Operations teams while driving continuous improvement, data governance, and operational excellence across the organization.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of DO Analysts, Lease Records Analysts, and Land Systems professionals.
  • Establish department priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage workload allocation and departmental resource planning.
  • Develop and monitor departmental KPIs and performance metrics.

Land Records & Contract Administration

  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and administration of leases, contracts, easements, rights-of-way, surface agreements, pooling agreements, and other land-related documents.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of lease records, ownership information, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor lease expirations, drilling commitments, delay rentals, shut-in payments, extension provisions, and continuous development requirements.
  • Provide contractual interpretation and guidance for operational and commercial decisions.

Land Systems & Data Governance

  • Maintain integrity of the Company's land management systems and associated databases.
  • Establish standardized processes and controls for land data management.
  • Lead system upgrades, conversions, integrations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with GIS, Accounting, Revenue, and Regulatory teams to ensure alignment of ownership and operational data.
  • Develop reporting tools and dashboards to support asset management and executive decision-making.

Acquisition & Divestiture Support

  • Support acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture transactions through due diligence and data validation.
  • Coordinate land data migration and integration efforts.
  • Verify ownership positions, lease obligations, encumbrances, and contractual rights.
  • Assist in developing transaction summaries and risk assessments.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to land administration activities.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and audit-ready documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to lease obligations, ownership discrepancies, and contractual compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Land Operations, Business Development, Legal, Regulatory, Accounting, Revenue, GIS, and Operations teams.
  • Support drilling, development, and operational planning through timely and accurate land information.
  • Coordinate responses to audits, ownership inquiries, title matters, and contractual disputes.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and the coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets, and administrative records as required
  • Ability to ensure all employees are operating within all Expand, state, and federal guidelines, policies, and regulations
Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Business Administration or Advanced degree in Juris Doctor (JD)

Experience

Minimum: 8 years related work experience, with prior supervisory or management experience.
