Job summary

Inotiv is seeking a Manager, Operations to lead and optimize flagship manufacturing operations with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, productivity, and cost control. The role requires hands-on leadership, regulatory compliance, and active collaboration with customers and regulators at the Denver facility.

Travel ~25% and on-site presence are expected; 8–10 years in management within biomedical fields; animal experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or related field; 8–10 years of management experience; 10+ years in biomedical industry.
• Experience working with animals; animal production experience preferred.
• Experience with process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Understand P&L, revenue recognition, cost control, and achieve profit, cost and revenue goals while monitoring performance.
• Visible leadership; hold regular meetings, two-way communication, cascade info, attend opening/closing meetings with customers and regulators.
• Ensure regulatory compliance is met, drive quality metrics, maintain 5S and regular inspections, uphold animal care regulations.
• Operate units at regulatory compliance (AAALAC, USDA, audits); manage staffing and technician training; assist marketing and sales efforts.
• Assist in budget forecast by projecting revenue and expenses; monitor performance to meet financial goals.
• Achieve customer satisfaction and loyalty; align operational strategy with customer needs; collect feedback and drive action plans.
• Support disaster recovery plans, contingency planning, and business continuity policy implementation; test procedures annually.
• Conduct performance evaluations and work with HR on workforce planning and disciplinary matters.

Job Purpose

The Manager, Operations is accountable for the overall operational performance and success of operational areas of responsibility. This hands-on role has a visible and dynamic leadership presence at the facility, supporting company strategy implementation and ensuring regulatory and operational compliance. The role emphasizes safety, quality, productivity, operational efficiency, maintenance, and cost control/reduction.

Travel requirement: ~25% travel; position is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Financial Responsibility – Understand P&L, revenue recognition, cost control, and achieve profit, cost and revenue goals while monitoring performance.

• Leadership and Communication – Visible leadership, hold regular meetings, two-way communication, cascade important information, attend opening/closing meetings with customers and regulators.

• Compliance and Quality – Ensure all regulatory compliance is met, drive quality metrics, maintain 5S and regular inspections, and uphold animal care regulations.

• Operational Delivery – Operate units at regulatory compliance (AAALAC, USDA, client & internal audits, business continuity, animal welfare, integrity), manage staffing and technician training, assist marketing and sales efforts.

• Budgeting and Forecasting – Assist in budget forecast by projecting revenue and expenses; monitor performance to achieve financial goals.

• Customer Relations – Achieve customer satisfaction and loyalty, align operational strategy with customer needs, collect feedback, identify root cause, and create action plans.

• Risk and Business Continuity – Support the establishment of disaster recovery plans, contingency planning, and business continuity policy implementation; test procedures annually.

• Performance Management – Conduct performance evaluations, provide developmental opportunities, and work with HR on workforce planning and disciplinary matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Animal Science, Management, or equivalent experience in managerial roles.
• 8–10 years of management experience; minimum 10 years in the biomedical industry.
• Experience working with animals; animal production experience preferred.
• Previous experience with process improvement methodologies.

• Demonstrated ability to manage site operations with P&L responsibility and people management.
• Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills, with solid verbal and written communication.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Preferred: Advanced study in engineering or business.
