Job summary

Redwood is seeking a cost accounting leader to manage inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and related close processes across recycling and energy operations. The role emphasizes accuracy, internal controls, and collaboration with Operations and FP&A.

You will drive process improvements, own inventory transactions, and lead a team of cost accountants to deliver timely insights and robust margin analyses for senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the inventory and cost accounting function, ensuring accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods across recycling and energy operations.
• Own the month-end close for inventory and COGS, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• Drive process and systems improvements, own inventory transaction discipline (receipts, consumption, scrap, adjustments), and report performance to leadership.
• Oversee inventory valuation and reserve analyses (excess, obsolete, lower-of-cost-or-market).
• Oversee inventory accounting for battery energy storage systems (BESS) components and systems held for sale/deployment.
• Partner with Operations and FP&A to develop cost models and support product margin and production analyses.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls over inventory and costing processes and support external audits.
• Lead and develop a team of cost accountants and analysts, driving ERP improvements within the function.

Key Responsibilities

• This position is responsible for leading the inventory and cost accounting function, ensuring accurate valuation of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods across recycling and energy operations. The role owns costing, inventory reserves, and variance analysis, and partners with Operations, and FP&A to explain cost drivers and margin performance. This position oversees month-end close activities for inventory and cost of goods sold, maintains the related internal controls, and supports external audit requests. Success in this role requires strong cost accounting knowledge, analytical judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role is primarily performed in an office environment.
