Job summary

Base Power Company is seeking a Cost Accounting Lead to build and scale the cost function for deployed inventory, fully landed cost per kWh. This role partners with operations, engineering, supply chain and finance to ensure accurate financial data during production ramp-up and throughout the process.

You will own standard costing, BOM governance, and inventory controls, driving month-end close and deployed battery system accounting in a fast-growing, startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of manufacturing and cost accounting experience, including ownership of a standard costing function.
• Expert knowledge of standard costing, BOMs, routings, and inventory accounting.
• CMA or CPA, preferred.
• Advanced ERP experience, preferably Netsuite.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong variance and root cause analysis experience.
• Clear communication across supply chain, engineering, operations and finance.
• Experience with energy hardware or complex assemblies.
• Interest in operating in a high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain standard cost methodologies for materials, labor and overhead.
• Lead inventory accounting system design and governance with operations and engineering.
• Establish cost accounting policies in line with US GAAP.
• Collaborate to resolve inventory discrepancies and strengthen internal controls.
• Own inventory valuation, reserves and capitalization rules for tooling and builds.
• Analyze material and production variances and identify improvements.
• Support physical inventory counts and related ERP adjustments.
• Support month-end close for inventory and production accounts.
• Account for deployed battery systems including deployments, installations, swaps and returns.
• Educate the business on inventory and costing rules and practices.
• Contribute to broader finance processes and adapt to evolving business needs.
